Welcome to the forum!!!! Your doodle is a CUTIE PIE! I'm not sure what to suggest to you, but others will give you some good advice!

It is a shame that vets and pet store salespeople push certain brands hard for financial reasons. But that happens with just about every product out there. I'd say just do your own research and ask other pet owners for their advice and experience with brands. I had one Petsmart Sales person give me about 1/4 cup of nutro once as a sample .... like you can really tell how well your dog will tolerate a brand by 1/4 of a cup. You'd research and look at reviews before you bought a new big screen TV - so makes sense that you would do the same for your dog's food.

Hi Ragdoll, welcome to the forum! I am really not an expert on what food is the best brand because my dogs do not have allergies so I can feed them anything that is healthy. I look for a company making the food in the USA, not just packaging it here, and I look for fishmeal. I won't use a kibble with fishmeal. Then we want quality ingredients and you can find a lot of good information about the amount of protein and other things...also important to me is the cost. I have a lot of dogs to feed and I can't afford expensive brands.

We feed California Natural. It is easy to find at a good price and my dogs will eat it. It is made in the USA and is ranked well for ingredients, and they do not use fishmeal.

If you check the archives of this forum you will find a lot of topics about dog food, some feed raw, and at other times we talk about recalls and such...I know it will help you with your decision.
