Default Updated pic of one of my puppies

I love seeing picture of my puppies as they grow. Hercules is living with good friends here in Kingston and we have run into quite a few people who say "we met one of your puppies the other day" and they tell me how they met Herclues at a doig park. He is the best advertisement we could get, a super cute doodle running around town meeting people! Here are a couple picks of him at ~12 weeks old I stole off facebook.

What a cute dood.

I do have a question regarding the pups colouring. Mom and dad are both chocolate without fading, Hershey tested DD for NO colour dilution, and Chippy wasn't colour tested but has not faded in 3+ yrs, so where is the blond lightening coming from. Dont get me wrong, I love their colour, but I was expecting more of a solid brown.

Todd, Do you think the lighter color could come from a flash on the camera? I only mention this as Mandy is a dark chocolate in person, and the camera makes her look lighter than she really is. I have tried to get one to show how dark colored she really is and it seems the flash doesn't do her color justice, especially close up photos.

Hercules is so cute! You are lucky to be able to see him.

Todd what a cute pie!!! and the coloring

2 things: 1...the background and lighting can affect how the coloring shows up
and 2 . if the pic is showing true color then it's a wait and see game

Beau..remember red GD? he got deeper as he aged
Peanut...she lighted up and more cream with touches of apricot

In person there is a difference in his coat at the roots, its much lighter, than at the tips, where it is chocolate. Its just funny to see, that even from two non-lightening parents, a puppy can still lighten. The poodle has soooo many coat colour genes, that we can never be 100% sure.

And I do remember Beau's coat, the red was sooo nice. I got really excited for a while when you were thinking of testing him as a stud. But it's nice to see he is somewhere getting so much love.

Kirma, how is Beck's coat in person? is it lightening at the roots or is it still chocolate all the way along the shaft?

What a beautiful puppy!
He looks a pretty good size....I forgot how fast they grow!
Marley tested as NOT carrying dilute, yet he turned Blue. I believe Jac's blues didn't test for dilute either.(PID)
I DO know that Blue is a single dilute and silver, parchment & chalk are double dillute.
Wonder if the double dilutes are showin up in the PID tests?
I also had a question on dilutes....since it is ressesive, if I wanted to get a dark non-dillute color out of Marley, I take that breeding him to a dog that absolutely has no dillute in it or shows it would give me all dark colored dogs? (dark meaning the dark reds I'm shooting for)

His color is solid brown, all along the shaft. His muzzle has lightened a bit, but we are outside alot so that could be due to being in the sun, I read somewhere that they lighten if exposed to alot of sunlight. I took this picture this morning. The apperance of his coat really depends on lighting. Indoors, or out of direct sunlight he is a very deep brown with alot of red, almost a mahogany color. HIs coat is amazing, everyone who pets him says that he is so soft that his coat feels like a 'stuffed animal' lol

Kirama,

Beck is so adorable! He loves his little stuffed animals too? Mandy is so attached to one of hers that she has to have it in her crate when she sleeps (blue pig). I love Beck's eyes, they are about the same color as Mandy's. His color seems similar to hers as well. Oh, how I wish you lived close by and they could play together, it would be so much fun. His coat does look lush. Beautiful puppy you have there!

Oh, my goodness! What absolutely perfect pups! I do love the lighter coloring...and they have gorgeous coats...but better than that, Hershey and Beck have the cutest facial expressions! Heart-melting adorable!!!

All of my dogs have lightened, all of them are blue and even the Poodles have silvered a LOT...and NONE of them tested positive for a dilute gene with PID...it is my understanding, from reading the PID info, that they do not have tests for ALL of the dilute genes...obviously!
