Default shoulder injuries?

Jack is my 7 month old labradoodle. He weighs 68 lbs. He started limping on Wednesday, but it did not stop him from running like crazy in the back yard or jumping constantly. His limping concerned me and when I checked this forum, I read about the possibility of lyme disease so off to the vet I went this morning. Well the vet checked his right front leg and finally Jack literally growled (never did before) when the vet checked the shoulder. Needless to say I had to leave him for xrays. I pick him up at 1. Has anyone had a shoulder problem before? I am scared

Awww..poor Jack!!! Maybe he injured or sprained his shoulder with all the jumping he does...at 7 mos. old, I'm sure he's just bursting with energy, and doesn't know when to stop!! Please let us know what the vet said! Good luck!

he probably just sprained it,, a couple of asprins would very likely help
Im sure its nothing to be worried bout
hopefully xrays will come out just fine,, try to breathe prayers comeing your way
is a growing pup, they have growing pains just like children

I highly recommend NU-JOINT supplements

Thanks for the concern and the suggestion. He has a problem with the cartilage. He was prescribed Previcox an anti-inflammatory and I was instructed to buy 500mg glucosamine chondroitin. I had been told he might be a little groggy from the sedative when I picked him up......but OH NO ....Jack was his same old self ......jumping and running around. When we asked the vet if we should try to limit his activity, his response was good luck.....Jack rarely ever just sits still, although I will say he has come a loooooooong way . I have no idea what he did to cause this problem. I originally suspected that while running like a crazy dog in the back yard he may have stepped in one of the many holes he has dug.....or was it caused by his launching himself off the back deck instead of taking the steps

Thanks again

Marley went through something like this. If not an injury it could be called "Pano"

Jack has only had one dose of the meds ( I gave it to him last night because he had to take it with food ) and it has already worked. No limping , but I am sure it is still tender. Now if only I can find "something" that cures the jumping. Our back door is a french door that opens onto the sunroom which also has french doors as exits and since these doors have the lever type handles......he lets himself in the house at will and sometimes it is only after being outside for 1 minute . We are working on this behavior and I make him "sit" before I open the door.....................we obviously have a lot of work to do. I love reading the stories of all the other " good " doodles but at this point Jack is still involved with pulling bathroom tissue, digging holes, pulling the collies' tail when it wants to come in and he doesn't ....and on and on. Wish me luck

GOOD LUCK!!!! Hahahahahaha....no seriously...even tho he seems like he's into everything non-stop, there will come the day when he finally matures and you will miss his shenanigans...so enjoy him while he's little and making you laugh and smile!!!

Jack sounds like Charlie's twin!! (he's 8 months). Why walk down four steps if a flying leap will get you there quicker? Jack (our Cavalier) can't go in, I haven't finished tormenting him, so I'll tow him by his tail! That loaf of bread on the worktop looks yummy....oh, and TWO new kitchen rolls on the shelf for me to shred. Wonder what mum's got in her handbag...I'll just have a root thro for anything chewable......from getting up to going to bed Think he's in a 'naughty' stage. My solution at the moment is to send him to the boarding kennel for the day once a week (we don't have daycare centres like the US, this is the nearest I can find)...that way he's out of my hair for a few hours and he gets to socialise and play with other dogs.....and our reunion is GREAT

I do sympathise with the jumping tho....it's impossible to stop it, even tho we know it's not good for their young joints....if there are no steps to jump down, they'll jump up to reach a shelf or just to say hello...training only helps if they're listening to you!

Oh my! First, I am very glad that Jack is on the mend! Good job, getting him to the vet! You probably saved him days of needless pain.
Hang in there...our girls didn't jump (their pups do!) but they did eat our house and all of the furnishing inside. hahahaha It was amazing...
They out grew it...you might have to wait 2 or 3 years, sorry, but Jack will outgrow the destructive phase. He may even stop jumping quite so high! LOL
Have you considered putting that energy to sports? Dakota (one of the doodles on our forum) is a great sports dog. He does dock diving and splash dog and I think that they tried agility...
There are some very cool things to use up your pups energy...look at flyball and scooter-dogs and Lure Coarsing...dock diving is great and if you get him tuckered out he may stop jumping! (but don't count on it!)

He's baaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!!
Today Jack is definitely his ole "crazy" self. It is funny but when I look at some of your pictures they look like Jack. He is black turning silver. At this point he looks old. We don't really live by the water (suburb of Philly ) but we do have a large fenced in yard. He has the collie to play with until the collie has had enough......our Wheaten doesn't want anything to do with him, yet my son's Wheaten who is only 1yr old is as crazy as Jack and they love each other. Things can get really nuts when my daughter brings over her Aussy. He loves catching a ball and I am waiting for the grass to green up (so it isn't muddy ) to see if he likes the frisbee
Maybe the black ones have extra energy.
