Awww, that is great news about Jack!
Nothing makes us feel better than to see our babies bouncy and full of life! A word of caution about frisbee...my PennHip vet said that it is very hard on their hips and often will cause a dog to get hip dysplaisa because jumping into the air and landing on two legs is really hard on them. You might want to check with your vet and if you do decide to let him play frisbee, get him on some holistic products to protect joints. (You will find out that I am ever the worrier on this forum!) |

Oh no another worrier. We probably shouldn't be conversing then ...(.insert laughing smiley face here, since for some reason I can't.) I thought about the jumping, but I hoped he could run and catch it in mid stride like the collie. Actually, even when I lob the ball to him he doesn't wait for it but rather jumps anyway
Another question......do your doodles howl?......where do they get it from?.....poodles? Jack's first night home he howled for a few minutes in the crate. He never howled after that, but the vet said when we left him there for xrays he began howling. Years ago I had a dog that was half lab half St Bernard.....she was huge and the love of my life, but she never howled... Any thoughts on the HOWLING? |

hahahaha...you are right...the two of us can come up with major catastrophes to worry over!
Howling...I have had a howler or two. I think that all dogs are capable of it, of course, but I don't think that it is breed-specific. Howling is a form of communication. No one really knows for sure why dogs howl, but what they do know is that wolves howl and it seems to be realted to their need to communicate over long distances...they use it to tell others where they are. This makes sense, under the circumstance that you describe...Jack doesn't know where you are so he howls to let you know where he is. (Cute, huh? If the howling is troublesome, it could indicate separation anxiety but I would think that if it is just on these times when you are not around, Jack is just trying to call out to you so that you know where he is. |
