What can I do for Hershey to bring her coat back. She lost a lot of hair over the whelping/nursing time and her coat is now short and coarse instead of medium and fleecey. Is ther a suppliment to give or a treatment that can help her along.

i suppliment with "Missing Link" prior to breeding my dogs and until after weaning. Although they may blow a little coat....as a rule they come out looking great.

I've never had the opportunity to have a mom of pups. But, I still think a capful of Extra Virgin Olive Oil on any dogs food would be helpful to their coat.

Todd, it really is normal...I know that you are aware of that...but it will come back very thick and shiny.
Nursing takes so much from the mother...poor thing. I don't do anything extra, my girls just eat normally and if I do anything at all, I just brush them more and give them more attention...you may want to clip her coat to an all-over short look and let it grow back at the same rate. |
