There is SO MUCH info out there on RAW !!!
Tuesday would not eat any dog food through her ordeal, only chicken necks & pumpkin cookies,so I searched around for something really nutritious. This recipe caught my eye because of the mollasses, what a difference it made!! They are called "Satin Balls"..... I think that I am going to make them up more often. http://theherbs.info/Pets/satinball.html |

I've had this recipe tucked away in my 'Favourites' for a while in case I need it with my older dogs...but I'm stuck on some of the ingredients. What sort of cereal is 'Total'? Is it like 'All-Bran' or 'Weetabix'...is it flaked? (hoping that someone may recognise A-B and Wx!) Also, how much is a package of unflavoured gelatine in your neck of the woods....unfortunately even if I can get the same sort of stuff it's not always packaged in the same sizes!
Presumably this is a 'complete' meal? Or would you supplement it with maybe veg and kibble?

I have used this too. My dogs love it...but it is a huge mess to make! And, if I feed all of my dogs the whole batch is gone in a day!
It is great to have when you want to build their energy and strength, I think. Here is the recipie and a little feeding infomation: http://www.njboxers.com/satin-balls-recipe.htm This is for half measurements and a little more info: http://theherbs.info/Pets/satinball.html |

Here is a link to show you Special K... its softer than all-bran or weetabix, less crunchy and I think made from more white flower rather than whole grains: http://www.specialk.ca/

Thanks for that Sarah...once I knew it was similar to Special K (which we do have here) I googled it and found a site which did a nutritional comparison between the two...the Total definitely came out better, having much higher % of vits and mins. I might try a small amount using Weetabix, as that's fairly nutritious and is a lot cheaper than Special K. Thanks for the info
