Default Solutions to puppy problems with going in the house

Whitefox is my brand new puppy I got for Christmas. I named him Whitefox because he is white, and has the cutest fox-like ears. Plus, I thought it was an original name.
Now, Whitefox is getting a little out of control. He always goes to the bathroom inside the house, and only outside if I am walking him, or if he’s already out there. But otherwise, he messes in the house constantly.
I am working with a trainer now, and I hope she can fix my boy. But as for the stench in the house, I am lost and I’ve tried everything. Any suggestions of good Pet Stain Removal products?

Hello A few suggestions:

1) Use Nature's Miracle to get the smell out from the accidents that have happened already.
2) Do not let the puppy out of your sight for now. Keep him on a leash with you so you can watch for his signals (or crate him when you cannot supervise him). If you catch him having an accident correct him and take him immediately outside (you can carry him out) and let him finish outside. When he finishes outside praise him (you can treat him too). Don't allow him to play on times you go out for potty. Just take him out on the leash, let him do his business, praise/treat and come back inside. If you want to let him play, take him out separately for play only.
3) Take your puppy out on a regular schedule - especially after eating/drinking. We would take Dexter out every 15 minutes at first...and then every 30 minutes, etc.
4) Listen/watch for signals. Dex would whine and/or sniff the ground inside when he had to go.

Good luck.

if natures miracle doesnt work, you can try washing the areas with amonia and water but make sure you wear a mask and ventilate the room but you def need to get rid of the smell not only for yoursake but a lot of dogs just go back to where they have gone if smell is there

puppies must be taken outside to potty on a schedule or they will not get potty trained. Our puppies were crated when we were not home and when we were home they were under our eyes all the time, we took them out every 1/2 hr to hr to potty - no playing until potty is done and then praise the pottying. As soon as you get home and open crate door, grab puppy and head right outside for a potty trip - make sure you take him out right before you put him in kennel for night and immediately upon waking in am. Also, most will whine during the night if they really need to go.

Good luck !

Be sure you buy the GALLON size of Natures Miracle. Pour it on the spots, don't just spray it on. If you have carpeting, you may have to have a professional carpet cleaner come to your house -- not the kind you rent but the guy with the big noisy truck! But most of all, listen to everyone's advice about crate training. It really works.

Try feeding Whitefox in random places throughout the house. When we first got Winnie she was peeing all over the place and having a lot of accidents in her crate, but since we started feeding her in every room of the house (and in different areas of every room) she has only had one or two accidents, all of which were my own fault for not taking her out quickly enough. I've heard it has something to do with the fact that they don't like to mess where they eat, so if they're eating all over the house they kind-of get the idea that it's not thier personal toilet.

Hi And Welcome!

I'm assuming you just got an 8 week old puppy at Christmas?
It will be a while before he is really trained. In addition to everything that's already been said, you need to make sure he isn't left in his crate for too long. Not more than 1 hour for each month old he is plus 1. The smaller the dog, the less capacity the bladder has and the younger puppies don't have a mature enough bladder to hold it for too long.

One other thing, If he has an accident and you "discover it" get a rolled newspaper and hit yourself on your head three times and say, bad mommy! But seriously, Don't try to discipline after the fact, the puppy has no idea what caused you to be angry. Just clean it up and move on.

One other thing, use the Natures Miracle even on hard surfaces like ceramic tile. Remy can tell exactly where my cat had an accident, long after unless I use NM.
Good luck and post a pict of your new family member.
