Default Elmo's Untold Story

Well i do not think i have ever posted Elmo's story so here goes, sorry my grammer is not good sorry.

I found an advert in a magazine Goldendoodle for sale, always loved the look of all doodles so i talked about it with Rob then rang the number.
The lady sounded nice and said Elmo had already had 3 homes but we could come and look at him no problem.
So took Freya for the two hour drive to view this Goldendoodle.
Well we turned up to this farm and it was not very clean to say the least.
The couple took us into their living area and a few minutes later the lady appeared with Mother and Son.
The then named Scrappy (Elmo) and his Mother.
Elmo was still feeding off his Mother and he was a huge boy she said he was 14 weeks well it was hard to believe the size of him.
He was a beautiful looking boy and Freya played lovely with him.
So we had a little chat, paid a sum of money and took the now named Elmo back to his forever home.

Elmo's first day home.

We noticed after a few days Elmo did not want to move about much and was very lifeless for a puppy.
So over the next few weeks we took things slowly with him and thought it might be because he was missing his Mom etc.
This progressed on and things did not get any better,Elmo did not want to go anywhere or walk far.
So booked to see the vets he had blood tests, results clear, then an xray which showed he had slight laxiety in his hips.
So we started hydro swimming with him.
But Elmo was very hard work no confidence in anything in life and not a leader a follower.
Our poor boy.
Next he collapsed in the fields where i walk him just would not get up as if he had enough,we never even walked far.
Right back to the vets, they thought he may have enlarged heart more tests..
By this time we are at our witts end he is only a puppy.
But the test were clear.
What is wrong with our boy...
Well did alot of research and i approached the vet and said i think i know what it is perhaps a form of Panosteitis, well they never thought it was but gave me some drugs to help with this for 3 months.
The drugs started to help along with the swimming, walking, change of diet, supplements we are at last seeing a great improvement.
He can now run without falling over, and bumping into things.
We love Elmo.

We all Love ELMO! I had no idea he was having so much trouble It sounds more like a rescue than a purchase which is how we feel about our Abby. I'm being interviewed today by a journalist who asks the question,"What is your greatest sorrow" I'm tempted to answer the way some humans treat their pets. After reading up on Panosteitis it sounds like you may have hit the nail on the head. I'm really wary of the effects of vaccines and the article I read suggests live distemper vaccines may be the source of this ailment. Get well soon Elmo!

Thank You mtd885
Elmo is now well on the road to recovery but just wished we could of got to the bottom of his illness, sooner.
He is great now but will never be a 100 % we do not think.
At least he can now get the care he needs with us and a good diet.
We did buy him at a big reduced rate, but we do wonder if they knew that something was not right with Elmo.
Elmo is priceless to us and you know what we are so glad we have him.

Wow, what a touching story! What a gorgeous dog! What a loving home you have given him!
I am so moved by your story and by the enormous love that you have shown this swee boy.
Thankfully, he ended up in your home, where he could be nurtured and cared for, where he will live a life of love and happiness.
Bless you for this...bless Elmo for his trials...I wish that there were more people in the world like you.

We ALLLLLLL love Elmo and whether or not he reaches 100% -- well, on this forum, he is 100% LOVED and that's what counts.

I have never seen a doodle with the expressions this dood possesses, and the gentleness with your puppy is also amazing -- it's like he knows he could step on her and really hurt her, so instead he protects and loves her.

WE ALL LOVE HIM and THRILLED he's there with you now -- please don't ever stop posting pics and stories about him !!!!!

Darling Elmo, he's quite one of the stars on this forum. Thank you for telling us his story and for loving him as you do. I can only echo what the others have said, Elmo is loved by all of us and I very much enjoy seeing photos and hearing stories about him. I think he's as beautiful as any doodle I've ever seen. You can be very proud of him and of yourselves.

That's a nice story! I love dogs since I was still a child and I think every dog is special. Just like Elmo. Every dog has its own special story to tell.
