I never have and don't know if I ever want to ship a puppy but.....I was talking to a breeder about her dogs and it slipped that her dog was on something (does predisone sound right?) for her lungs. She said that it was a result of her being shipped as a puppy (this is a small dog..8-9 lbs max as an adult). (she wasn't in a cabin with humans) She said that she has to be put on a different medication when she is pregnant.
Me, always wondering what the real story is, would never touch a puppy from this dog or reccomend one her puppies. To make matters worse, if it is something genetic, she is now selling a litter in which she bred this dog to a nephew.. So.....has anyone ever heard of any problems as a result of shipping??? This has just been driving me nuts! |

Maya was shipped and other then her seizure thing (she hasn't had any in 1.5 mos...horray!) (I do not believe the seizures are related in any way to her being shipped...I think they were in response to some vitamins I gave her) she is in perfect health and has been since I got her.
And why is this woman breeding this dog if it has lung issues? Doesn't make sense to me!!! |

I know...the problem is that this lady has champion lines, and the poor person who just looks at the lines could be in for a headache & heartache...
I pay attention, & I talk alot....things evenually come out. I just was wondering if what she told me was BS or can things occasionally happen upon shipping... |

Judi, I don't ship although I have considered that I may have to start...I really don't want to...
There are many things that can happen during shipping, but this doesn't sound right. I'd stay clear of a puppy from this affected female. I have received pups on airline cargo and they have been great...but I am a coward, first class! |

I ship puppies!
Remember Chouette? Well, I put her on the airplane as a happy and healthy girl and Leslie took her off and she was a VERY happy girl, and has been ever since. Lung issues, other than viral, could be adrenaline-related I suppose, but this sounds fishy to me too. And if it is NOT genetic why not keep a pup from her instead? I would have to consult with the vet, if I couldn't find a breeder or puppy that I could live with over this one. People just don't like to face what they don't like to face. But you're right and my gut is right there with you. And I think shipping is a scapegoat. SPEAKING OF SHIPPING!!! I am so excited that I am now able to offer DELIVERY to most placed for the same price as shipping! |
