Update??? I say go with your gut feeling! If they are giving you a hard time over $9, just imagine them in an emergency situation at the vet's office!

I have no advice but just want to say that I commend you for your care of this pup over the cash!

Thanks for your patience!! Sorry it has taken me so long to respond and let everyone know the outcome.

We decided to call the woman and speak with her. We were totally upfront with her and let her know our concerns etc..She had forgotten about the $60 fee for the vet check for the health certificate to fly and thought that we were charging her $260 when the flight was $193.
She also told us that she had just had her wallet stolen a few weeks ago and had dealt with a lot of expenses on her accounts and canceling cards and was a little nervous about paying over the internet. She had also been very stressed, had just had to put a horse of hers down because of health issues, so the puppy's health was at the forefront of her mind.

She apologized for making me think that they were not excited about the puppy and said that they had all been looking forward to her joining their family for over a month. She said that even before they put a deposit down, they knew that they would be adding one of our puppies to their family.
On top of that she decided to drive out 7 hours with her daughter and pick up the puppy and meet us.

This made us much more comfortable, and after meeting them and seeing how smitten they were with the puppy, we felt that we had made the right decision.
I think that these puppies become our little babies and we want them to be safe and happy, and at the slightest indication that they may not be going to the perfect home, we may tend to overreact if we don't take the time to speak with the family and find out what is really going on. We were so ready to move on based on a single email, when in fact it was a misunderstanding and misinterpretation. After meeting the woman, she was a very sweet, kind and genuine lady.
She has been in contact with us twice now letting us know about the puppy and how happy they are.

Thank you all for all of our advice and input. I think that most times our gut instinct is correct. However when you are dealing with people in a business situation(even when your heart is very involved!) you have to make sure that you get all the facts and know that you may be held to a contract if there are money and emails involved(which I didn't realize before!)

I feel good about the choice we made, and it was very heartwarming to get all the responses from everyone. It is very obvious that we have a wonderful group pf doodle lovers here!!!

I'm so glad it worked out well. This is one of the reasons I hate e-mail sometimes. I have seen it happen so many times that the intention of the writer is not understood by the reader. Sometimes a lot of confusion can be cleared up by just talking Sounds like you had a great outcome!!

I am glad everything worked out. Like Leslie said someitmes you just need to "talk" so there can be a real conversation. Emails can be so misleading and misunderstood. I am glad the pup found a wonderful home.

Oh, I am so glad! Everyone wins!!
Good job in contacting them...I agree, it is so hard when you are writing and not speaking!
I sometimes write something quickly, hit the send button and forget about it...until someone gets back to me (or should i say, back AT me! LOL) and lets me know how hurt they are.
I always appreciate the person getting back in touch with me so that I can clarify.
I am thrilled that this worked out so well for you, the family and especially the puppy!
