If he's listed as unsuitable for little kids and you have a two-year-old granddaughter who will be around him he's definitely the wrong doodle for you. I had an alpha Dane who bit my granddaughter when she was about two - totally unprovoked. The dog was lying under the table, the baby dropped a pencil and reached for it, and the dog nipped her. We gave the dog to a rescue group, with full disclosure about our reasons. Prince seems to have definite issues, with his jumping on your back and grabbing at your hand. I'm sure someone could retrain him and socialize him, but he's going to need a lot of attention and no temptations in the form of little ones.

I got my doodle from a breeder on this forum and I am thrilled with her. She's everything I hoped for - mellow, intelligent, eager to please and cute. You might want to look into who has puppies here and get to "know" them through reading their posts, which is what I did. I couldn't be without a dog either; losing one leaves such a huge hole in your heart. Please stay around and let us know whether you decide to get a doodle through this forum or some other resource.

Lots of luck!

Leslie

I would venture a guess that if his nips are a little strong its because he hasn't been well socialized. We got Rosie when she was 6 months old and she was with lots of other dogs and I credit that for her gentley mouthing. Rosie does "puppy" us (my 5 year old calls the mouthing "puppying") but there is no pressure at all and its not only when she is excited, more like an expression of love. Rosie gets about 2 to 3 hours in walks, which includes some off-leash run time on the beach. If she didn't get to run, she'd be a tigger-doodle.

I say that with lots of training, love and exercise he could be a great addition to your family.
