I don't like to push to many donation type things, however, I received this email today from the ASPCA that I think addresses a serious problem in our economic times that a lot of people don't even think about. Pet owners no longer able to financially support even the basic necessaties of their beloved pets:

Now more than ever, many people are facing one of the most devastating decisions of their lives, relinquishing their beloved family pets. These wonderful animals don’t have many options, but you can help them find new homes.

Many people are being forced to choose between their animal companions and the roof over their heads, others are homeless and at a loss for how to care for their pets. Many people are returning their cats and dogs to shelters?these pets are the lucky ones. The cruel truth is that many pets will be dumped, abandoned and turned out onto the streets, while others will suffer hunger, neglect and abuse. Please help stop this brutal cycle.

At the ASPCA, we know that animals matter and contribute to the healthy vitality of our communities. Thanks to your generous support, the ASPCA has rescued countless pets from crises, provided medical care to more than 144,000 animals and assisted in the adoption of over 63,000 animals over the past year. You can help us continue to save those pets most at risk.

If you would like to donate here is the link: https://secure2.convio.net/aspca/sit...ay9ny2.app225b I think we all know that in these tough financial times adoptions and donations are reduced drastically; however, more and more people need to utilize the rescue organizations services. If you can, please help support either ASPCA or your local shelter or chapter of the ASPCA.

I'm a member of the ASPCA. I only give $18/month, which isnt very much, but I do it for Libby...in hopes that some other dog or cat will be able to have a happy life like she does. The ASPCA really is a good cause and they are so grateful for whatever support we can give them. I would reccomend them to anyone who is considering donating to an animal charity. As they say, animals cant speak for themselves so "We are their voice."
