My husband and I recently adopted Lucy from the pound. She is approximately 1 year old. She has a healing injury to her back Rt hind leg. She does use it, but does not always put her weight on it. My real concern is to put some weight on her. She is only 36#. I've had her altered, given shots et recently had her groomed. You would have thought she has been with us from birth. She has been wonderful. Thanks in advance to everyone who offers sugestions. lindaetlucy

Welcome to the forum Linda and Lucy! What is Lucy eating, and how many times a day does she eat? Has the vet offered any suggestions as to how to put some weight on her...maybe more protein and vitamin supplements? I'm definately not a nurtitionist, but I'm sure there are other members on the forum that can give you better advice..I know a lot of people cook for their dogs with sensitive tummies, and there are a lot of members that feed RAW...I do neither, but feed kibble plus table scraps (veggies and any leftover meat) and my two are doing fine...
Maybe when you get a chance, you can go to the Introductions section and tell us more about Lucy! We all love pictures of new Doodles, and would love to see her!

Yes she has been wormed. Right now I'm feeding her Benefil et I put out what is recommended for her daily consumption. I will get some photos of her, which we have taken several. I took her to the groomers yesterday and she did very well. I had her clipped close. I just wanted to give her coat a fresh start. Linda et Lucy

I don't have any advice as we are still trying different foods, but I want to say Hi and welcome! There are many here that can help and I am sure you will find what you are looking for from their advice.

I'm sure given time LUCY will gain some weight as she sounds like she's doing quite well with you and your family.
just remember she may fill out alot or just a little depending on her structure. Also what did your vet say? Max our LD until he was about almost 2yrs old took in MORE food than the recommended amount he will fatten up during winter and then get leaner during summer varying 10 lbs difference in weights. YES 38lbs is quite thin and from what you've stated sounds like LUCY needs some weight just bear in mind she may not gain as much as you think or she will as some doodles will have the lean more poodly build while others like my peanut (cream one) stays a bit shorter and tank-ier (hard to believe she was the runt at one time).
