Good news! It looks like she and her brother will be taken very soon. Someone who lives three hours away inquired of them and was told that since there were SO many applications, they're only considering people in the immediate area. So, she'll be home very soon. What an absolute doll!

I was already to rush down to mid state.....what a precious little doodle!!
So glad she and her brother are being placed soon!! How in the world did it end up in a shelter??? I know each sheltered animal has its own story... Soooo glad there are good shelters out there helping to place them. I agree the photography of this little girl is quite well done for a shelter! It goes a long way to convince me that maybe other details for the animal's care is really top notch. At least, the photos give a good impression and has to help in placing them...!

I just checked...this "ad" is no longer valid...looks like an adoption! Good news, eh?
I used to work at the Sonoma County Animal Shelter, a no-kill shelter...my job was to take pictures of the new arrivals and put them on the internet so that anyone missing a dog could check the web to see if their dog was there...then, after the wait period passed and no one came for the dog (or cat) it would be photographed again, and put on the web page for adoption. It was a good job...I am sure that whomever took these pictures enjoy their work as much as I enjoyed mine. This shelter kept even really old dogs until they were placed. I wish more shelters were like that. |

I absolutely agree with you Kathy. It would be wonderful if they could foster the dogs out. It was so sad, heartbreaking actually, to see some of those poor dogs...some were so great and others were so problematic...but all of them had a story.
We had one, huge, German Shephard who seemed really nice but one day attacked two of the kennel workers...I was there, and it was very scary...but this great shelter kept the dog. They didn't put him down. They told everyone who might be interested in him and they waited until the right person came to get him. Apparently, he was trained as a guard dog to stay inside of a lumber yard fence when they closed...and something triggered him to attack. Not good, not at all...but the shelter just kept working with him until he was placed. Now, that being said, I fear that too many of these types of dogs are placed, as Kathy says, and people don't find out until it is too late...that is the real danger in getting a shelter dog. You just don't know. Many of them are just sweet victims of their circumstances...but others can be a real danger to their new families. |
