Beck was punctured by a branch when he was out on his weekly run last friday. He came home and seemed fine but kept licking himself. I cleaned the wound (which appeared tiny) and watched him, but by Sunday the wound had enlarged from all his licking I guess, so I took him to the vet yesterday. She probed the wound and found it to be over an inch deep. She said she was worried part of the branch had broken off inside so she anesthetized him, and opened him up. Everything went well, but he came home with a much bigger wound with sutures(about 1 1/2 inches). It's on his side, so she said don't worry about a collar, just put a t-shirt on him..umm yeah that worked for about 10 minutes. I ended up wrapping him in vets tape over the t-shirt and he's still trying to get in there and lick that thing. She said he will be fine "just no running and jumping for a week" OMG we just spent a week keeping them apart because of Murphy's post neutering 'no running or jumping' instructions..I think I'm gonna lose my mind.
PS Thank God for petplan insurance, out of a bill of $605 I will be reimbursed about $490
