I went into the deal to purchase what I believed to be a true F1B. Once we finally got all the pedigree paperwork, after we got the puppy of course, we discovered that our puppy is a product of F1B x F1B.
First of all, WELCOME, dhclem!
Secondly, how weird is it for a breeder to hang on so tightly to an f1b label?!
The truth is that the "F" labels were developed long before there were Labradoodles - by scientists who worked on hybrids of 2 species, like peanuts, corn, tulips, etc. So we have to - or should - follow the generalized scientific terms. It makes so much more sense.

I believe, personally, that an F1b type of cross is ideal - less shedding than f1's, typically, but the Labrador isn't lost in the breeding, ya know?

Having said that, our newest puppies are f3's, from an f1b x f3 breeding....and both parents are or seem like f1b's in their soft fleece coats, so why not keep breeding from good f1b stock? (see pics in business section)

In other words, I hope you got a really nice delightful Doodle, even if the parents are f1b's instead of the offspring.

and post away!! "Newdle" - I love it!!
