Default Ospreys on the Combahee River (picture overload!)

We went out on the boat yesterday, and took a trip down the Combahee River. We saw two huge osprey nests, both with two chicks in them! The moms were really protective and started whistling and squawking at us! One got pretty agressive and "dive bombed" us - she must have come within 6 feet of the boat! I would have liked to have gotten closer pictures, but I didn't want to disturb them any more, so we just cut the engine and drifted while I snapped these pictures. I never get tired of seeing these beautiful eagles - they build these huge nests, and the same pair will return to their nest each year. Wonderful birds - hope you like the pictures!!

Kim, that was just was we needed to see this AM. We are in the middle of packing and can't even think straight. It was nice to see a sample of what we are doing all this for. Tim says to mark the spot so you can take us there...hopefully next summer.

Oh, and Tim has told me about the shag and tried to demonstrate it...Tyke does it much better

It's a date, Annie! We'll probably get to see this same mama's new babies next summer!
