School let out on Friday - its been a tough year and although she pulled through school with all A's & B's, I've made the decision to hold her back in 2nd grade and let her have a nice easy year next year. Her classmates all turned 9 this year, while Annie doesn't even turn 8 until August - I want her to have another year to grow and catch up maturity-wise. So needless to say it was a rough end-of-year for her.
So, I've decided to surprise her with a trip to Disney! We leave Wednesday and will return late late Sunday - Thanks to some WONDERFUL contacts I have at the Swan & Dolphin resort, I was actually able to get a room last minute. And thanks to the most wonderful friend in the world I don't have to worry about my dogs (I mean really- how many friends can one count on to dog-sit THREE dogs?) "See" you all when we get back! I'm sure I'll have TONS of pictures to post!

Have a GREAT time!!!!
I think your decision to hold her back is a good one. There's a big difference between 8 and 9! In the long run, it'll be good for her!

Kristin YOU and Annie deserve a trip!! have a blast!!
and know what? you're making a GOOD and Wise decision to hold Annie back 1 year. My b-Day is end of OCT, my parents AND I wish they had held me back in 1st grade...life would have been less stressful for sure, & though i had A's i pushed myself all the time. so KRISTIN I am so happy you're giving Annie a chance to fully develop and be herself w/her own age group

Kristen
I held all three of my kids back in 1st grade and considering they were already the tallest in the class it was not an easy decision. I felt that if I had let them go through they would always be struggling, by holding them back they still had to work hard to get their grades but it was do able. All three have graduated and gone on to new thing and all three have thanked me for making that decision for them they enjoyed school so much more because of it. And now you are going to my favorite place DISNEY how cool. I will be there at that time also but just for the weekend staying at Animal Kingdom (kinda like home with 6 dogs). The kids will watch all the dogs while hubby and I go look at a house near Disney. Enjoy your trip and know you are doing the right thing.
