I bought a bag of Solid Gold Barking at the Moon kibble today in hopes of helping Cali's allergies. She'd been on Canidae all life stages and she's had allergy symptoms for a couple of months now. Don't know if it's environmental or food. I decided to try something grain free. I nearly choked at the checkout when they rang it up. The good thing is if she doesn't like it, I can return it. I guess I'd rather pay extra for food if her allergies go away instead of giving her antihistamine twice a day. But if it's environmental I guess there's nothing I can do. Time will tell.

Meg.....I feel your pain. I switched Rumor to Evo....talk about sticker shock. But hey they're worth it, right?? Rumor seems to be doing great on it. I'll be switching the other two when I start running low on the Canidae. I feed them less of it, so it may even out in the long run.
Hope it solves Cali's problems.

haha...I feel your pain too. What we feed is only available in 28 lb bags and is not cheap! You can check petfooddirect.com if you continue to feed it. Shipping is high, but with the 22% off coupons they offer we find it to still be cheaper than buying in the store (but we are feeding Natural Balance).
Hope it works for you!

It would work out about the same since shipping is $20! Yikes. How do you get the coupons? I just entered for the free pet food for a year contest. Maybe...........

OK, so how come all of a sudden so many are having problems with Canidae?? I know not all will do well on it...but if they did do well, what changed?
I will have to look into some of these other foods....not because of any problems I am aware of, but....because I think they get bored with the same kind all the time. Am I crazy?

Jonah and Miko are still fine with it. I had to switch Rumor because of gas and some skin issues. Haven't yet decided if I want all 3 on the same or not. Probably will, just for ease.

Jane, I'm not sure if Cali's allergy symptoms are environmental or food related. Since I can't change the environment I thought I'd go grain-free with the food to see if that makes any difference since grains, even rice I guess can cause an allergy. I'm not ready to go raw yet because I like the convenience of kibble. I'm still transitioning her food, so it's too early to tell if the grain free kibble is making a difference. Stay tuned....
