Default Chicagoland weather survivors!

To all those who experienced the wrath of Mother Nature yesterday and all the heavy rains over the last week, I hope you are all well and without any serious damage. In the 17 years that I have lived in this area I have never experienced anything like yesterday. Here are some photos in our area, so many streets looked like tree and branch grave yards!

I actually ended up driving under this tree last night, unaware the tree had gone across the road, I was following other cars. Thank God it did not fall the rest of the way while cars were trying to get out of the area!

Lisa ... Thank you ... our triple digit temps are nothing compared to that kind of destruction. I hope you and yours are safe and didn't suffer too much damage. Yikes!

Yikes what a mess! I'm so glad you and yours are alright.
Mother Nature must be going through menopause right now, 'cause she's just letting everybody have some kind of misery!

I'm about 5 hrs north of you, and we had a long drought, followed by huge amounts of rain, flooding, mudslides and craziness. Today was beautiful, but was the first nice day in a LONG time.

I hope you get a break from it all soon too.

We have been very lucky! People on the streets to the east and further west and north were still w/o power last night. We missed the severe weather yesterday but are getting more rain now.

Chesterpal how did you guys fair? Anyone else from the area?

I called my brother who lives right in the city off Lakeshore drive in a 3flat. The biggest problem for them was a flooded yard and basement. There were trees down around the block and the park took a pretty big hit. He's a worse smart#@$ than me. When I asked him how the storm was, he said...."Well, it passed." He did say there were still quite a few people without power as of last evening. It makes me look at my now drying up flooded back yard and thank the Lord it was only water and I still have power!

I was on the train when it, 1 stop from home. The sky looked like the "Rhino" from James and the Giant Peach, that killed his parents. It was wild, things were flying, trees were bending and the rain was coming down in buckets. As we pulled into the station I asked if they would make us get off , silly question the train must go on!!! There were trees on cars in the lot and all over the streets. Luckily things stopped flying when we had to get off the train, thank God for small favors!
