Default Tearing up tufts of grass after P & P

Hi all!
I have always had a male dog and not one of them ever did what Bogart does.
For way over a year now.....and he just turned 3 on Sunday 26th.......after he pees or poos, he uses his back legs, digs them into the grass and throws it all over the place......oh.......mud or dirt too. I mean it FLIES in chunks!
He does this in our yard and on walks. I yank his chain on walks as when he does this on someone elses house......I'm sure they're not happy.

I know this has to do with being territorial and I'm not sure I can stop it. I can if he's on a leash, but by the time I see him doing it, he's already ripped up a tad of someone's lawn.
I guess my only question is.....does anyone else have a doodle that does this? And if you do, what do YOU do about it?
I use to HATE when I saw other dogs do this. In a way, I saw them as potentially mean spirited.......but Bogart is far from that.
Linda

Bogart s instinct to cover up is alot stronger than Toby s..he does nt do it
at all..

walking in a pact, barking, marking, covering own scent, licking..most important insticnt, preserving the order of the pact..some are quite annoying..

fullfilling instinctive behavior makes a dog happy..but, that behavior can be changed without emotionally harming the dog..the water in a bottle
trick usually comes to mind..

Yes, the water bottle squirt might work.
My problem is that when I walk with Bogart, we're out for a 4-8 mile hike.
If you could see me! I carry a shoulder bag with all my items, a water bottle (for drinking, not squirting), his food and a foldable dish for him. My carry bag has to weigh 10 LBS! Sometimes I even stop and shop and attach clothing or groceries tied around the strap!

The squirt bottle might work, but I don't know where I'd carry it.

So, yesterday, he poo'd on someone's lawn and I went into my bag for a poop bag. By the time I found it, he had buried the poo in grass, leaves and dirt!
I stood there for 5 minutes trying to find it!

I don't know.........I guess some dogs are just like this. It seems so out of character for Bogart! I could easily see my other dogs doing this, especially my SPringer Spaniel.......but NOT Bogart!

does Bogart do this everywhere you take him?..most dogs will not cover-up around familar territory..then cover when in strange place in an attempt to hide his scent..
