I spoke with annmarie today & Peanut is hurt really bad!
She tore ......oh! If only I could remember what.....in her leg. Peanut is such an adorable doodle who soooo enjoys life, running and playing & one bad move & she is in dire straits. Please pray that Peanut will not be lame for the rest of her life! She is only THREE! If this doesn't heal......she will pretty much be immobilez. Our prayers are that it heals at LEAST enough where she can have SOME fun and not lame.......and for SURE a miraculous FULL recovery! After I hung up with annmarie, I was on my way to meet my husband for dinner. I lost my appetite & was SO choked up! I can't even imagine the pain & sleeplessness this once so active doodle is going through. POOR BABY.....& poor annmarie! As a Catholic, I recently started novena's. For 9 days, I will say one Hail Mary & one Our Father AT LEAST! I believe in the power of prayer, so if you are so inclined, either join me for 9 days or pray as you will.........but please PRAY for PEANUT! Linda

Peanut is on pain meds and is still miserable. She doesn't want to eat and has to try to drag herself to her water bowl. It's so hard to see a dog like this. I forgot to mention that the urgency comes in that she goes back to the vet Saturday. Annmarie said she would get her in Friday if there isn't any improvement. When she has to potty, they are suppose to use a towel to support her, but she's not liking that. Annmarie has her own back problems and it's impossible for her to do the necessary tasks to help Peanut. But she tries. She has to rely a lot on Dave and he's at work. Pooooooor PEANUT! I can't even get this off my mind. It is sooooo SAD!

OMGOSH! What on earth did she tear? That is soooo horribly sad. She will be immobile from one leg after she heals? This is so sad, I don't know what I would do. Layla ripped off her toenail a couple months ago, I was so upset then, I don't know what I would do if anything else happened more serious to her. Please tell AnnMarie I said we're thinking of her!

I will be calling annmarie either tonight or tomorrow. Yeah.......I know, Bogart and Toby are about the same age and Peanut will be 4 shortly. When I think of a dog of any age having this misery it's horrible, yet alone a young dog. I was hoping annmarie would come online and explain this better, but very obviously, she is very busy. I will call her if she doesn't call me soon. Continued prayers.

Hi Linda, Do you know how Peanut is doing? She is so sweet, I feel so bad for her. I was going to call Annmarie but I didn't want to bother her. Hopefully they are just telling her the worse case and its not going to be that bad. Poor baby!

The latest I heard was that Peanut is not worse, but not better either.
What they are now trying to figure out is how this all happened, because there are thoughts that there may have been an "incident"...........where someone tried to hurt her. OMYGOD! I can't even stand the thought of that! In annmaries words: Quote:

Here is annmarie's email to me this morning!!!
HI...as of yesterday PEANUT is doing remarkably better, she even tried to run and play with MAX yesterday in the rain UGH i had to drag her by the collar and her neck back the 600ft to the house. HOW's that for an update? she's eating alot, her one leg still slips out from under her but i am making sure she stays inactive and takes her meds OH she even walked into the shower and i bathed her lower half NEXT week she can have a full shower. The prayers are working and she goes back to vets end of this week but they make me call every 2 days.

Someone tried to hurt her? Was she anywhere that someone could have hurt her?
That makes me so angry! I would probably be in jail if someone ever laid a finger on Layla. So glad she is doing better tho!!!! Keep the updates coming! |

I have no further updates on someone trying to hurt her. I too would be in jail!!
I had a class last night and annmarie left me a voicemail. She pretty much repeated what I said above. Now, because Peanut was so active, she needed tons of rest and annmarie was by her side yesterday making sure she slept. She indicated that her one leg is still pretty bad, but the good news is that she is seemingly improving daily. She was told Peanut needed at least 3 weeks of "bed rest"..........so poor little Peanut needs to listen up and obey her mama! Continued prayers!

I had a long talk with annmarie today while walking Bogart.
I want to tell you NO ONE HURT PEANUT! This was thought at first, but after discussion with the vet, here's what they think happened. Peanut hurt herself somehow and may have been trapped for a moment and she had a panic. In trying to free herself, she hurt her back and both legs. The left leg is the one more serious and the rigt leg and back seem to be improving. What annmarie has done is cut back on her meds. When on full doses of the meds, Peanut gets too playful and is possibly further injuring hereslf. As annmarie says, this might sound cruel, but when you think about it...it isn't. How does an animal know it's hurt? It has to feel some pain, right? So,although Peanut is getting treated with love and care, she needs to know she's still not well via a little pain. It's the ONLY way she will heal......and it sounds logical to me. Continued prayers..

Thanks for the update!
I completely agree, a dog on many pain meds, not feeling anything, is the same as a human on pain meds not feeling anything. Definitely want them to know they aren't better yet so they don't injure themselves further. |

HI EVERYONE!!!!!!! I feel bad it's taken me soooooo long to be back on the forum and to GIVE AN UPDATE also thank you for your prayers.
UPDATE: PEANUT is NOT doing good!! UHG! it's a rollercoaster and i still see the vet weekly now as before we were going every 48 hrs to vets then calling in etc. PEANUT was improving but ONLY for a short while. She possibly tore the CCL in her left leg totally and partially in her right leg and did lower back damage to the tissues and muscles. We'll never know exactly what happened except i have a vet experienced with this kind of injury. NOW Peanut was off pain meds for a week and only on muscle relaxants AS OF this week PEANUT's good leg is NOT good now and we're back to square one as of TODAY she had trouble walking etc. We're going to do XRAYS to rule out a DISC Problem in her back and more. good news: Peanut eats but now is eating less and very slowly but goes out to potty fairly well. I have to help her out alot easing her down to lie down etc, we have a baby gate on staircase, she is walked on leash only for extremely short walks, Poor MAX doesn't have his robust playmate so we play games with Max while someone watches Peanut. PLEASE keep saying prayers PEANUT gets better and isn't lame or even a disc problem. She's only going to be 4yrs old next month. It's pitiful to see her walking, it breaks me and my family's heart to see her this way. SO as of yesterday she's back on pain meds AND the COLD weather seems to affect her as well. THANK YOU for your prayers and I will try to be on here MORE OFTEN now the past few weeks I had to help her 24/7, lay out waterproof baby pads under her. OH AND try finding a groomer to come to your house---good luck! Seems like i'll be buying clippers soon and learning how to groom peanut myself as we can't let any matts form on her legs as that would intensify her pain. I wish I had better news.........NOW i will give another update as i hope to get her in tomorrow or by Sat. thank you again!! sincerely annmarie and peanut
