Default They just grow up so quickly!

I took some pics of my pups today...10 weeks old already! I am keeping Silvie and Marilyn (named after Marilyn Monroe...by DH, of course) for my breeding program.
I have a couple of Labby looking ones but they are so danged sweet! Really...I think that they just know that their coats are not as pretty...because they make up for it in so many ways!
I'm going to try to post from my computer, but the pics might be too big...so bear with me...okay, I could download Marilyn without it being too big, but the others had to come in through photobucket...

Jac, beautifull pups! I am so glad you are keeping a black/silver one. I think that a true full bodied silver is very beatifull and hard to find in the doodle word. I thin kshe may silver out since she has started so early. There are some really nice silver poodles but doodle breeders have yet to move in that colour direction, so I hope you can find a nice silver stud, even for just one poodle backcross maybe? Marilyn is gorgeous, just keep her away from any presidents or Yankee sluggers. Smokey Joe, great name and what a handsome guy, very nice. Do you often get flatter coats from Bayley? Is this the studs first litter? I wonder what their FGF5 staus is (from the chart in this post coat-determined-genes-new-study-t13809.html). Maybe they each have one long hair gene and one short hair gene, so some of the pups are getting two short hair genes?

Yes! They are growing WAY too fast!
You have some BEAUTIFUL coats Jacque! And you know how I feel about Marilyn..... she has the perfect coat for my woolly-bugger Marley! ( I LOVE Lizzie's little sweet face!)
I have 2 left at home now....
Calli Ko goes into her new home Friday. She has the strangest coat. It's not hair, it's not fleece, but it is very shiny...

And my little happy guy Howie....excellent coat, but over-looked by the simple fact that he is a boy...? I don't understand people, he is so sweet, he has that goofy lab personality, but not hyper...and his little tail goes a mile a minute. He is going to be a big gushy baby like my Marley
Marley has totally changed any negative opinion I have ever had on males.

So Jac...have you found people to shun a male over a female?

Thanks, Todd, I think that Maureen has a beaudiful full silver Doodle but he really is one of the only silvers that I have seen. I will have to study the post that you linked to...I don't know about that yet...but the sire to this litter is the same sire to Maureen's parti litter...what we discovered in that mating is that he carries a ton of color combinations! I believe, too, since we had some isabela colors and that all of the blacks are either blue or silver, I know that Bayley carries Dd (blue) so the daddy must have DD (silver). That means that, given this girls coloring, she carries cream and brown, she is parti factored, and dilute for silver/isabela...so, when she is bred we will ge a rainbow...including cafe and parchment.

Marilyn is chalk (not cream) and she also carries the dilute for silver/isabela. It will be very fun watching what we produce...oh, and she is parti factored too!

The coat type...Bayley always has a few of the F1 looking coats...the cream male seems to be open faced and more like a Golden Retriever (his daddy is a Goldendoodle) and his coat is growing thicker as he ages...I really expect him to look like a Golden Retriever. Little Lizie Ann looks exactly like Bayley did at this age, only with more dilute.

Love, love, love this comment! Bark happy birthday...I'll teach her that!

Judi...yes, I have found that people prefer female over male...I really can't convince them that, in the Doodle world, males are as sweet as, if not sweeter than, females! You know that I love your pups too...and I can attest to the softness of their coats! Stewie has a very open face, like my Buddy...I am going to have to study the link Todd posted!

Thanks everyone!

Wonder why this is.........I have never had a female dog in my life! That's not for any particular reason. I just have always had males and every single one of them was a sweetheart!!.......of course this includes my BOGART!

I love my boys! I have had both males and female dogs and I can't really see any difference in temperament, males tend to be larger- I guess if that's an issue someone might want to consider a female but other than that it baffles me as to why people would not want a male

Honestly, I think it has to do with anatomy...some people are just not comfortable giving a belly rub to a male dog. Silly.

I think that they believe that a male dog can't help himself & will pee all over the place.
I didn't want a male either until I kept Marley.
He is such a big baby, never has lifted his leg in my house, even with mom in heat & EVEN with mom in heat & a stud visiting to breed Tuesday & staying in a room down the hall.
I don't think I could have gotten mad if he did. I LOVE males A LOT now!!

JAC .......the color of Silvie is really unqiue and I LOVE IT!!! i can't wai tto hear more on these two especially their temperaments and

One of the extra benefits of early neutering. We did Gus a little early and he has a very tiny man-part. My wife commented last night how she was worried about the whole belly rub situation with Gus being her first male dog. She said she was happy is has a teenie weenie and there is lots of space to get a safe belly rub in.

Very Cute photos Jac....they remind me of what Kozmo looked like as a babe..with the black fur on his body and the silver coloring on his muzzle at first. Now his entire body is "Silver" but his legs look like they were tie dyed..because the coloring along his legs is lighter and becomes a shade darker...

He is "Male" and he is "Mellow" the calmest dog we have ever owned...a delight to have in our house and home...sorry we got him fixed...he has the best hip scores...
