Default Through a Dog's Eyes.

Did anybody catch this documentary Wednesday night on PBS? I saw the last half of it. It's about a group of people going through training and getting service dogs. One of which is either a doodle or a shaggy poodle. It's an hour long, and I think you can watch it here:

http://video.pbs.org/program/1430606654

A girl who had just taken her dog home within like a week was woken up by the dog in the middle of the night with the dog jumping on and off her bed. So the girl gets up and goes into her parents' room and they were wondering what was up and the girl started to seize. So they got her taken care of and everything was ok and when they put her back to bed the dog went over in the corner and laid down like 'my job's done'. The parents were like 'we didn't know what her (the dog's) warnings were like, but we do now!'

Yes, I have seen it...good story! I love that they are focused on dog's genetics making them want to bond to humans...and that learning the commands is only a tiny part...it is the bonding and communication that is important.

Watch it as time allows? HA! Once I started it, I couldn't stop watching!
My face hurts from the smiles and my eyes are slightly damp. OMG! How absolutely awesome!

Ya know....as I watched this, I thought about Bogart.
These dogs chose who they would partner with.
Have I managed to confuse Bogart by giving him TWO jobs?
Where the one SD was following the mom more than the boy.......he had to then go back.
Bogart is attentive to me, no doubt! But........GEEEEEZ! He loves kids!

Yet, with my PTSD, Bogart is here for me and sure enough calms me and helps my physical pain. The joy I get from sharing him is so incredible that maybe I really need this too!!
Perhaps TWO jobs are good!???

Two jobs are good as long as he is happy...and he IS!

Yep, I watched the program and then I sat with Dave and watched it again. There are some wonderful lessons to be learned from this...and some reaffirming for me, that I am doing things right.

I only wish I had the staff and volunteers that she has! I can't wait until we have a campus!
