OH! I HATE these days!! I feel sooooooo helpless!!
I had just got home to change clothes after being with Bogart and Chloe all day and my husband got the call.......George (little adorable Yorkie) had to be put down this afternoon. I was in my bedroom and KNEW IT! I started to cry before I even knew for sure. Little Chloe got me a tissue and at 7 years old started to comfort me! "Aunt Linda, he's in heaven and feels no more pain." I just called Tom and Diane after our walk. I had to give them time to get it together as Tom called as he drove home from the vet. What does one say? It doesn't MATTER how old George was! Yes! He was OLD! But, Bogart and I just saw him Friday and he was running around chasing Bogart! The pain of losing your best friend is so awful! I just had to type this out because .........I just had to.

Linda, I am so sorry for your loss...and the loss your friends have to suffer through.
It is never easy and nothing eases the pain...except for time and happy memories. |

Ohhhhh......look at this little guy!
He was so full of personality! Just last Thursday, he and Bogart were running around the yard together. Bogart will feel the loss next time we visit. He was actually AFRAID of George....... This is hitting me really hard today!

He is so cute! I am sorry. There are no words for the loss of our furry friends. I take the loss of my friend's pets almost as hard as they do. Hang in there and know you are not alone.

Chloe was here when I found out and again yesterday. She wrote the sweetest little note to George's "Mom & Dad".
She didn't know how to spell George.........came out Gorge. SO CUTE! This little girl has the biggest heart! I'm going to give the note to Tom & Diane. It should make them smile. Okay.......on a lighter note.........you're not going to believe this as it came out of nowhere and made my husband laugh out loud! Tom had gone to pick up George's remains today. He has made a little box and dug a hole in George's favorite spot in the yard. Walt had called Tom to ask if he could help dig the hole and be present with him. Well........Tom made a statement to Walt that was rather goulish and when you think about it, it even made me laugh because of the way it sounded. He said....."Walt that's okay. We're waiting for George to THAW OUT!" OMG! His little frozen body doesn't fit in the box! Walt is looking for the right opportunity to apologize. But, it caught him so off guard that he laughed! Ummmmm...not a good thing! What is it that the strangest things can make us laugh when there shoulda been tears. I just don't get it sometimes because it really isn't funny!

I think that sorrow and laughter often go hand in hand. It helps to lighten the mood...nothing wrong with that.
I spoke at my grandmother's funeral...had everyone laughing out loud. My grandma would have approved...she said if anyone cried at her funeral, she would kick the casket! |

Thank you, Jac. I agree with you! In fact, I think the purpose of funerals is to say goodbye and yet to be joyful. It is a bittersweet time.
I don't think that our friend took it wrong. It's just that he's in so much pain that he didn't laugh. I know the time will come when we all all sit together and chuckle over that one.
