I wanted to share this story from Good Morning America. It is not about a Doodle, it is about a boy. A remarkable boy. Please watch...Ezra, the boy in this story, received one of our dogs when he was 2 years old, just before he went to New York to have his leg amputated...I am so proud to know him. This is not a story about handicap, but about strength and determination.

Amazing what a happy kid he is with such a positive attitude, in spite of his disabilities!!
Thanks for sharing! His dog....is that your dog "Yoshi", "Yedi"(something like that)..... i remember a picture you posted a long time ago with some of your service dogs in school. One looked just like his. I remember because I thought that that was what Marley was turning into color wise, & I was right.... |

Oh JAC!! How beautiful!! What an incredible story!
I know it's nothing about dogs....but you say he received one of your dogs. How does the dog help him and was that short clip with the dog yours?

Hi, yes, that is the dog we donated to Ezra. It is not Yoshie or Yoda, Judi, but Yasmine (the Y litter) who is their sister.
Although Yazzie was well trained for a guide dog program, she had a "career change" ...but, 2 weeks after being placed with Ezra, she flew with him and his family and stayed by his side all through the surgery and recovery. She was excellent! Here are some pictures and a snippet of an email from Ezra's father: "Ezra is doing fine. He was in surgery for 13 hours and is now in ICU and is doing well. His lower left leg and foot were amputated without issue. His big toe was transplanted in place of his small pinky finger on his leg hand." "The interesting thing about ICU is that the entire medical staff is goo-goo over Yazmin. They made Yaz a bed from a crib and are all stopping by all the time. They are arguing over who is going to walk the dog tomorrow. Its fascinating that we are getting the gold star treatment because of Yaz She has generally been a hit at Children’s and doctor offices this week, but today she really was a celebrity. They are even bending the rules to allow her to eat and drink in ICU. I picked Yaz up a couple times to show her that we are with Ezra now. She has been looking for him all day when she sees rooms or kids or hears children… She really is a special dog that has brought us significant love and joy in the mere 4 weeks she has been with us."
