Default Overheated doodle?

Yesterday, I walked Bogart a few miles. It wasn't that hot.......maybe 60 degrees?
I have come to love our walks and we walk everywhere......the grocery store, the bank....you name it!

Yesterday, I walked him to my doctor. I noticed he was panting more than usual. When I got there, I gave him water in the plastic, foldable bowl I carry. He was more interested in all the nurses and patients than the water.
He had a little and then when I stopped for lunch on the way home, he drank some in the restaraunt.
By the time we got home, he ran around the yard a bit when he saw his buddy, Finn, over the fence, but he immediately started seeking a shady place to lie down. He did this 3 times and that is so unlike Bogart.

This is all leading to a question........Do you think that possibly a light weight, some sort of GARB........like a WHITE, linen "shirt" would help?
White deflects the suns rays, right? So, maybe I could either have something made, or find something of this nature online.
Spring, Summer is a tough time for black dogs! I also had that incident last summer where I had to find him water ASAP........
What do you black dog owners do? And would you think this piece of doggie clothing might work?

Sorry but I don't know the answer. I will be watching this post though because it will help me with Tia. I am not in the sun much but we do have to train every day. Good luck.

I found these.......seems, however, that they need to be 100% cotton to be COOL! Some have Lycra and that might be too HOT!

OH! Look at this one! But also look at the price!

A little cheaper:

Okay.......I have decided to buy one of these cooling jackets.
I called the vet and they are highly recommended.
I'm trying to figure if I will spend the 49 or 59 dollars. The one for 59 had a live chat where the other you need to email and wait.
They appear to be the exact same jacket, no?

Update:
THIS JACKET IS GREAT!
Bogart and I walked Thursday and Friday. It was in the low 80's.
I was sweating and peeling off a light weight jacket on Thursday.....and Friday .........I was hot in a short sleeve shirt.
Although some panting was going on as that's how dogs sweat, it was minimal and he was very comfortable. When we got home, I took it off and he wasn't panting for over an hour and looking for a shady, cool spot.
This thing is awesome! I get to walk my doodle this summer! YAY!!

I think some people thought I was abusing him with wearing this thing in the heat until they found out it was wet and cool! I think Orvis sales for Ruffwear will soar in my area as many people wanted to know where I got it and they want one or 2 for their dogs! :P

Glad it worked so well for you two! I wondered how it would be...I once bought a cool bed that had to be soaked and it was HEAVY, plus it got stinky, like a sour wash cloth. We tossed it out. So, keep us posted!

EUUUUUUU, JAC!
My son thought of that with this jacket. It slowly dries when we walk and I then throw another cup of water on it.
By the time I get home.......it's fairly on the dry side. Hung on a rack it dries nicely!
I think with the bed.....it doesn't get aired out as much....maybe?

Probably not...because you want to keep it cool, so you keep it moist and with the dog on top and the floor beneath...not much air...it was stinky!
