Within a week, 2 of my friends have found out their dogs have malignant tumors.
We all know how difficult words of this nature can be. I feel so bad for both of them! I'm trying hard to comfort them, but what can you say? Both have elected to not put their dogs through chemo and to try to make them as comfortable as possible in their final days/months. Abby is the most gorgeous German Shepherd! I met her owner, Barb, through work. As I would go on appts with Barb, she would follow me with Abby. One day, she let Abby out of the car off-leash. She was only TWO! I freaked out as we were on a busy street and cars were all over the place. Abby had gone through extensive training, of which I was unaware, and she was sooooo GOOD! Cosette is a lab. She has been, Maggie's, her owners fortress and strength for many years and is soooooo sweet! Ironically, both Maggie and Barb, who btw don't know each other......had both been out of town when their dogs tumors were discovered. Abby was at a care center where she stayed when Barb went on long trips. They loved her there. They discovered a tumor on her elbow area when petting her one day. Abby's cancer is a type of skin cancer that was never discovered and eventually got to this point. In canines, skin cancer is not as aggressive. Cosette was staying with some friends and when they were petting her, they found the tumor on the inner part of her thigh.I think hers is far more aggressive. Anyway..........say some prayers for Barb and Abby........Maggie and Cosette. They are both going through a rough time and I feel so bad for them! My Casey went fast. Lymphoma........Period. I know the pain these people are going through and how they're hearts are breaking.

Oh, no...such sad and horrible news...of course I will be remembering your friends and their dear companions...and I pray that they will enjoy many still unaffected days with them.
I need to take Gracie to the vet...she has a big sore on the top of her neck...I thought it may have been from one of the dogs...but it is not getting better! Soooo, I know the fear...and I can certainly understand how the awful news must hit. So sorry. |
