One of the puppies that we donated TWO years ago is graduating from the Canine Support Teams! I just got the call today, they said they sent an invitation to the graduation but it was returned. I'll call them tomorrow to get the detials.
I donated two puppies, one from Rosie and Chase and one from Lexie and Chase. It will be fun to find out which dog made it! The graduation is on January 9...if I can get there, I'll post pictures! |

I will certainly ask around about my Goldendoodle when I get there! I am going to put together a little picture journal of Lexie, Chase and their litter of puppies (the one that the service dog is from) so that they can see their dog when he was a baby and know that we love him and his family, very much. They said that the new owner is thrilled, that they absolutely love this dog to pieces...I can't wait to meet them! Really, this is a big...no, a HUGE moment! I do know that I donated the pup at 8 weeks, that was 2 years ago. So I am certain that the puppy has been well trained. They do use a prison program but I found out about 16 months ago that my dogs were not in the prison program. It will be a total surprise to me! A very nice surprise...and the person I spoke with was very kind and friendly. I will also be taking my friend, the trainer from sourthern CA who has trained about 6 of my dogs and who is currently working with 2 of them for service work! She started out as a trainer for the Guide Dogs of America but now does her own training. She is the best! It will be a good weekend. |

This is so exciting! I love hearing these kinds of stories. I'm secretly hoping that, whatever dog we wind up getting, he/she will be kind and gentle enough to become a therapy dog who can participate in, for instance, a physical rehabilitation program for children. I'm not sure what all is out there, but more and more hospitals and such are becoming open to this kind of thing.
Those must be some dogs you've got, producing such wonderful, gentle, wise puppies |

Thank you! We are very proud of our puppies!
You are in the right place to learn about therapy dog training...when you are ready, let me know because I have some good sites to refer you to. There are several wonderful therapy dog owners on this forum! |
