Most of us,spoil our dogs. And that's okay. In fact it's wonderful! But sometimes pampering can turn into aggresion and dominant behaviour, as sad as it is, it's true. It's important to understand the way a dog thinks. Dog's think like dog's. Everything they do depends on the "pack structure"/"pecking order." A.K.A, who is the boss. This can be quite difficult to understand sometimes, and it's hard to make sure that you are the boss. That is why I STRONGLY recommend this dog book, called Who's The Boss. I have read hundreds of thousands of dog books in my life, but this is like no other. It will really help the way you live with your dog, how you train them and walk them and feed them etc. It helps you "get into to your dog's head" and is the best thing I have ever done. It has helped me with my crazy stubborn Border Collie and will definitley help when my Labradoodle arrives, Janurary 19th .
I was recommended this book by an amazing breeder and bought it and loved it! Best purchase ever! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS! Here's the online link: http://www.bonnies.com.au/content/view/18/47/ It is a truly amazing read! |

ok i am reviving this post. So many of us want to spoil our dogs and act as if they're our little kids
BUT training is sooooooooo important so that you let a dog be a dog but at the same time let your dog learn to look to YOU for direction like a Pack Leader. As they mature you'll be greatly rewarded witha loving yet good/well mannered dog that respects and LOVES you. And bonds closely with you at the same time via training, grooming, love and having a sense of humor as all puppies like kids will chew/break things and it's not intention or in spite. There's a reason which can be multiple YET its up to US to teach a puppy just as kids can't raise themselves ....nor can a puppy in your home. YES we can spoil our dogs with LOVE patience and yes Training too.............my doodles are now 3 and 3.5yrs old. AND i will say they need refresher training every so often but teh love and bonding is awesome as is having them want to be around me and my family without problems of aggression, dominance, separation anxiety etc. also crate training is good as it can also become a dog's den their own private space as they would be in the wild. anyway........good post and i thought i'd further comment.
