WHOOHOO Henry put on his weight!

Dang doodles of mine decided that in their outside play time they were going to get as muddy as doggie-possible, which they should know better because that means afterwards is bath time.

Anyway, when I first got Henry I had asked what an ideal weight should be. Most responses said that you can feel his ribs, but not see his ribs when he was wet. At first I could not only feel, but see his ribs at bath time. Took some time, but last night - fully wet and soaked I could NOT see his ribs!!!! And he only has a little narrowing from rib to waist! He has a very lean but deep rib cage!

Previous owner had told me that he was just a skinny doodle - about 3 weeks ago I started to believe that since he just wasn't putting on to much weight. But now I'm saying BULL! He looks AWESOME!!! And the previous owners comment on constant ear infections unless I put that homemade ointment in his ears every week - again saying BULL - (knock on wood) but no ear infections and I haven't used that stuff since I brought him home.

WHOOHOO totally excited about the progress Henry has made physically!

You must feel very pleased...he is a happy and contented boy, eating well, exercising well and loving life!

Good job, Henry!

I didn't know that rib theory! That's a good thing because although I can feel Bogart's ribs, I can't see them when wet!

Linda - I remember Todd (I think) and a few others telling me that.

Jac - I am SOOO Happy!!! Makes me feel good that they feel good. And I did think it might be a little harder for Henry to put on weight at my house since he burns more calories off during the day (old house had him in a crate most of the time) - but YAY - he's looking healthy!

OH and if you have 2 active doodles and an even more active 6 year old and all you want is a peaceful quiet night - give doodles both a bone and pop in Santa Buddies for 6 year old .... I had 2 hours of SILENCE in my house last night, was SO nice!!
