Just to update you guys - you all gave great advice on how to pick out a trainer....I finally have found one and it was wierd how I did.
We had a blue grass and chili festival a few weeks. A trainer had a booth - decided to stop in and check it out. She does one-on-one training as well as group training. I checked her out, she's certified. I was impressed by her training program - first, in-home meeting with the entire doggie family and dog. Work with dog a little, discuss bad habits, etc. and develop a training program. Assess were the dog is as far as training. Every dog has to be at the same socialization level and have down basic commands before beginning her group lessons. SO her first classes are in-home one-on-one. I liked that, get down basic manners and than bring in the distractions of a big group in a wide open area. Group lessons are done at a local park. She likes the open setting and the distraction level. SO anyway - Family Consultation is Thursday (day before Samson's neutering) and we will begin once Samson is healed with his one-on-one training program. And it's all positive reinforcement, no prong collars, etc. What do you guys think? |

i'd say 1st it's MORE than YOU THINK ---> give it a TRY And see how it goes! if it's the right one for you and samson!!
so NOW i'd say i think it's a GREAT WAY to start!!! i like also she is familar w/doodles as they do need a different type of training than say German Shepards, etc. KEEP us UPDATED.....and also w/the whole family starting off together then goign to one person training w/whole family being consistent w/training(is important!) then you will see GREAT RESULTS W/samson also being stimulated as doodles need it due to high intelligence!! I am happy for YOU your family and your doodle!!
