4+ allergy to dogs and cats

The other day I saw an allergist and had some testing done. Well the results were negative to everything but dogs and cats! Now I know what my symptoms have been for the past 2 years and for the last 30 years as well. I almost died from shellfish and walnuts but the test was negative! Well we are doing blood testing for shellfish so we shall see. Here is the Dr.s explanation to the results. There is a rare disease here that is a result from many weather changes, the symptoms imitate allergies. Ok that explains the grass pollen etc. NOT! You see I have had reactions to those things since I was in my 20's. If the shellfish comes up negative then it is the toxins that I am having a reaction to and could probably eat a small amount once in awhile. That makes no sense since one bite closes off my airway! Now on to the dog and cat allergies. Yup I agree with the cat and some dogs 100%. Problem is the two most allergy producing dogs are German Shepherds and Husky's. Guess what Kai is? You got it those two breeds! My allergists seems to think I really am allergic to all of the dogs just more to Kai. I don't agree with being allergic to Tia and probably not very much to Buddy.

So here is my problem with Kai. I can't ask Chantelle to get rid of him and I am such a softy that I can't kick him out of my room when she isn't here. Oh yes and I can't take shots because of the heart med.s I take! So I suffer. Since I have always had dogs I can see that maybe my allergies to trees and grasses and such really were dogs but not when I sniff a flower and sneeze and my nose clogs up. If you can't tell I am so CONFUSED!!! Thanks for letting me vent! There is really so much more but I am tired of typing because my hands hurt. Thanks for listening!

Kathy, this is too odd! It is amazing that the testing came back so weird! I am just baffled...and I hope that you are able to figure out something about Kai...I understand your reasons though... *sigh*...just too bad that you are suffering so.

Well the blood tests for shell fish came back negative! I almost died from eating shellfish and all the Dr. can say is come in and eat some in front of us so we can see your reaction. I told them that I did not see the point since I know my reaction and they can't give me any of the shots anyway. If my heart meds can get in the way of the shots working why are they not getting in the way of the testing? I made an appointment to see my regular Dr. today so we can talk about treating the discomfort I am in if we do nothing else. Oh well we always knew I was weird didn't we!

Oh, man...that is tough...wish you could eat one in front of him and be tested while you are having a reaction...but not if it will kill ya!!! Yikes!

Its so frustrating to get test results that dont jive with reality of how you feel and react. I hope they can sort it out.

Well no help from regular Dr. He said all we can do now is try to treat the symptoms. I was offered the chance to show the allergist I am allergic, but since they can't give the me shots why go through the trauma? The last time I ate shellfish they almost had to intubate (sp?) me so I don't trust them (in the office) to deal with the reaction just to show the Dr. I know my body! Oh well I have three medicines I can use while I am dealing with allergies. When we get snow 80% of my problems will go. I wish I knew what to do about Kai, but he is here for awhile so I just have to get use to it. Thanks for all of your support. I really do appreciate you all so much.
