Default Skunks and barf and other small, tedious things...

In light of all that is going on in the world and with people being sick.......this post is small beans!

Starting with Bogart........2 mornings in a row now, we wake to barf on the floor by the couch.......almost in the same spot.
It's just yellow bile type stuff. Yesterday, there was a small wrapper of some nature, like from a small package of oyster crackers........in it.
Today......just YACK!.......nothing in it.
Morning sickness? Preggers? :P What is up with this?
He's fine otherwise. And, then he eats his breakfast.

SKUNKS!
So, I bought the fox urine and was just about to post, just yesterday, how there have been NO SKUNKS!
And then.............
Let's start with I took Bogart on a late walk. So, when coming home in the dark, I saw a skunk running in circles on a the lawn of a home about twenty houses away from mine.
When I got home, Walt said only rabid skunks run in circles.
So, I went outside and squirted the Fox Urine around. FRESH STUFF!
Every night, I still go out with a flashlight to make sure just before I let Bogart out.. There it was! Staring at me with those beady eyes right in my hosta's in the back of the yard.
There is no doubt in my mind Bogart would have been skunked last night!
I jad to take him out on leash.......then he didn't want to pee....... He kept thinking WALK TIME!!
Soooo.........back to skunks! I wonder ehat happened. The Fox Urine seemed to be the ticket for months now.
UNLESS..................unless...........it was really a rabid and crazy skunk.

Lastly, my friend is in town from CA. Poor thing. Her mom has gone into dementia and she's here to help find a home for her.
She will be coming here for a night or 2 SOMEDAY! So, we keep cleaning house and preparing..........but so far.....no call.
She has a lot on her plate right now. I just wish I knew when she'll be here.

Most important.....why is my Bogart barfing? Do you think he might need a little food late at night?
OR............was it NOT the dang woodchip!!??...............aaaaaaargh

Hi Linda,

My first thought (about the yacking) was the wood chip...I think that it is not that, but do pay attention to intake and elimination...

Most often when dogs vomit the yellow bile it is just acid...and I give some PeptoBismol for that...about a teaspoonful. Vomiting without anything coming up is usually due to something not digesting....not serious, but something to keep in mind. My dogs usually only vomit like that when things need to be "re-arranged"! Usually that dry vomiting is followed by some productive vomiting and I'll usually find things like chewies that were in chunks or sticks...

Try the Pepto, keep an eye on intake and output... ... and check with the vet if you are concerned.

The skunk...I think I'd call animal control! Especially if the skunk is rabid...that is very scary...and dangerous!

Sorry about your friend's mom...that is heartbreaking...I hope that she comes to see you, you can make her smile again.

I don't know what to say about him being ill. Have you called the vet just to ask what they think? As for the skunk I would call and report it! Good luck I will keep you all in my prayers.

For some reason, we have skunks around here. They built some new homes in a wooded area about 5 years ago and sent the skunks our way.
It's truly amazing that they are here. This area is highly rated and has really espensive homes......except for mine..........LOL............But, my suburb is surrounded by other suburbs with million dollar homes!
Why do I even bring this up? BECAUSE, after I wrote this just this morning, I was outback where the skunk was last night and saw a RAT! I almost pooped myself!
There is a property kitty-corner to us that butts up to our fence. It is solid weeds and stuff.
The neighbors have been complaining. Last year, the woman cleaned this up and it cost her $800. This year, it's overgrown again and also collects a lot of water......and poison ivy.
The woman refuses to have the work done again and it looks like we can't make her. So, everyone is ticked at her and these animals are living in there.
Now a RAT! I am calling the city tomorrow.

On the barfing.........intake and elimination are good. Interesting that you should mention acid, Jac. The way I discovered this this morning was I stepped in it! What a way to wake up before coffee! But, I quickly rinsed off my foot and went to clean it up,....and my foot started to burn a bit. Hmmmm........just a slight irritating burn. So, I really soaped it off.
I fed him later tonight and will see what the morning brings before talking to the vet. I'll also get some Pepto tomorrow and have it around.
Question on the Pepto......it contains aspirin.....I didn't think they could have the aspirin.
Thanks you guys....I can only hope its not serious.........all of it!

I didn't know it had asprin...but I checked, okay for dogs, not for cats: http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm ... 9&aid=1456

In most local communities, they have weed abatement laws...check your local police department, health department or planning and zoning...see if you can find out. Often, the police notify the property owners and if they don't clean it up, the city will and then the city will charge the property owner.

When I was a small claims court clerk, we had lots of small claims filed by the city against homeowners for weed abatement...

Linda...you've done it again....made me giggle thru this entire post!!! From the beady eyed skunk to the visual of stepping in barf, to the rat sighting and the need for TP!!
I keep pepto on hand too..if and when the doggies get upset stomachs..works wonders! Hope Bogie is feeling better!
Sorry to hear about your friends Mom too...not a pleasant thing to go thru...
