Default Horrible start to my day

Well I am worried over Tia and Buddy and upset over Kai. My day started out with Tia having what I thought at first were hiccups. No problem she has had hard hiccups all her life. I learned when she was a pup how to cure them. This time they were very hard and would not stop. Her legs and body would jump about every 3 seconds. Nothing I did stopped them. Tia began to whine and just cry (almost a howl). I did Reiki, massage, and pressure points, nothing worked. I decided to get her up and see if she could walk. I think that did the trick. So far after eating and being on her feet for about a half of an hour she seems ok.

Now a minor point of worry is Buddy has not been eating more than a cup of food a day. He should be eating 3 cups a day. It is hot here so I think it is the heat. I have heard of other dogs not eating much when it is too hot so I am just in a wait and see mode. He isn't getting as much exercise either in this heat, so maybe he doesn't need much food, I don't know.

The scary part of my morning is Malakai. He would not come out of Chantelle's room to eat so I did not want to wake her so I went to take hold of his collar. He jumped up and almost bit me. He had a loud growl that scared me a lot. Tia ran in and got between us and Kai backed down. Chantelle told me the guy she use to live with abused Kai and would grab his collar to do it. Thanks for telling me Chantelle. Since Kai would not leave her room she said to feed his food to him in her room. So now we have room service?

Thanks for listening to my horrible morning. Oh yes if you have any ideas about Tia and the spell she had today I could use them. She has never had such a bad problem with hiccups that she has cried before.

well, if it were me, unless Chantelle was paying me big $$ for the privilege of staying in my home, she would be helping feed the dogs, particularly if one of them is in her room

I'm sorry, but I have no clue on Tia!
What is that cure for hiccups you mentioned?

oh ((((((((kathy)))))))))) big hugs to you honey

did TIA gulp water too fast/too much before playing and/or eating?
i have no clue otherwise how to cure them in a dog

as far as malaki goes.....okay how long are they living with you??? cause either Malaki gets some new training
and NEVER show fear and i am soooo happy TIA laid the law down too. room service? i'd say YOU"RE the boss not the dog
but that's me hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa me? i'd let malaki miss a meal and figure out to come out to eat
or serve him AFTER Tia and Buddy eat.

NOW mine in very hot heat on occaision have had a day or two where they didn't eat breakfast or say dinner
i keep aneye on them to make sure they're not coming down with something is all.

you know you're dogs soooooo just see how they're acting over the next couple of days
HOPE they're okay honey.

What usually works for Tia's hiccups is gentle pressure by her eyes. It is just up the sides of her nose to the underside of her eyebrow. I don't know if it makes any sense that is what I do. Tia had been asleep and woke up with the hiccups. She has done this since we got her as a puppy. Oh Buddy ate a cup and 1/4 the for dinner so he is doing a bit better.

Chantelle isn't paying anything and we said that was ok. I am going to have a talk with Chantelle and get this straightened out. I think almost getting bitten and giving in to Kai has been a bit much for my patience. I just talked to my sister and she had a good idea. I think Chantelle needs to be the one feeding her dog (and it can be in her room if she likes). I mean after all maybe Kai is getting confused and we need to keep her in charge of his food. We will get it straightened out and my mood will improve, I just needed to share and get some TS (Tea and sympathy). Thanks for being there.

(((((((((((kathy))))))))))))))))))))) hugs to ya honey!!!

now re: chantelle, let her do a few responsibilities which include feeding her dog
dont' worry if she is upset at first as things will get better if you start to law down a few laws in the respect that
you all live together and work as a team.

Oh Kathy...what a bummer!!!! Yup..Chantelle should take over the responsibility of feeding her own dog...I can't imagine her getting upset with that!!!
As far as Buddy not eating....sometimes Raleigh will go a day to a day and a half without eating...he just isn't interested...his poops are fine, and his disposition is happy...he's just not a chow hound like Molly is..plus I think the heat has a liot to do with it..even I don't feel like eating or cooking for that matter when it's hot!!!
Hope today is a better day for you! Huggs!!((((()))))

Hi Kathy...gosh, you have had it rough...hope things are better soon.

About Tia...I have no idea why it would hurt her to hiccup...unless she is crying from frustration? Or, maybe the hiccup is a symptom of something? I don't know...like acid reflux...do dogs get that? LOL

I'd make a call to the vet and just ask why hiccups make Tia cry and how you can help...I like your normal method...very lovng.

Chantell makes me recall a friend of mine who's son and his wife came to stay...my friend worked full time...the son and wife were both unemployed...but when my friend got home from work, everyone wanted to know what she was going to fix for dinner! So, one day, she didn't have much to work with...she made beef and gravy to serve over toast...but she didn't have normal bread...so she used cinnamon raisin bread! Ha! No one dared to complain...

When my son was in high school...I took him to pick up his jacket (for being on the bull-riding team...a fancy, embroidered jacket) and he said, "If you were a good mom, you'd be paying for this jacket." and I replied, "I am such a good mom that I am letting you pay for it, and some day you will understand." Now...he has a teenage daughter...and he understands.

Sometimes you gotta try a little tough love...some of the best lessons in life come from the word, "no"...

Hugs to you, Kathy...you are a good person...

Poor Kathy.......we love you! And, we're giving you advice you didn't ask for. That is what friends are for, right? When we go into the Chantelle thingie, it's just to help you, hon.
Jac......those were great examples!

Sorry, but I have to tell a little story here. In my first marriage, I had more family and friend boarders then I can recall. Seems like every single niece or nephew of my now ex.....lived with us. Even in my current marriage....that sounded funny ...........we have had friends of my son.....and my stepsons live here on and off. Of course, no one paid us a cent!
Well, in the first sitaution, I had one niece.....who is almost my age......live with us.
My dad had bought filet mignon's to pass out to his clients every Christmas. We always got several.
So, one morning, I wake up to Kim, the niece, eating steak and eggs for breakfast!! THE NERVE!! She just took a filet mignon out of the freezer.......thawed it out unnoticed to me........and had herself a wonderful breakfast!
UM......well.........I told her off.
No moral to this story other than people living for free will always USE us!!

Thank you for such wonderful support! I guess I have been feeling a bit sorry for myself. I still have a nasty cough and with the fires yesterday my asthma almost sent me to the ER. I have been calling the Dr. because if I go in I have to wear a mask (because of the cough) and I faint with stuff on my face. There is just so much he can do without seeing me so I am tired and cranky. Most of the time I don't mind the feeding the dog chore but I really wish I could go a week without that chore. Kevin helps out if I am gone or sleep in too long but that doesn't often happen. Chantelle and Kevin work and I don't so I have felt that was something I could do for them. It has been almost a month of coughing and fevers on and off and when I can't breathe I get what my mom calls poor pitiful. I am so glad I have such good friends that are helpful and sympathetic! Thank you I think you are wonderful.

Aw, Kathy, you go through so much and it takes a lot to get you to the "poor pitiful" stage...
We DO support you...and we care about you...and I understand how it is to want to help people...but dang, when you are going through health issues...well...just take care of Kathy, K?

oh ((((((((kathy)))))))))))))))) i sure hope things improve with your health, hopefully if THEY'RE working they can chip in
and also feed their dog as i am sure the extra strain on you doesn't help your health much.

i too had company for years when i lived on Lake Erie my Ex's siblings would be with us every weekend dogs included
that started in May until Labor Day weekend. i'd wake up some mornings to see MORE people sleeping on couches
and tents outside
I guess when i had 2 little kids 17mos apart that cured MOST of the company
but somehow the sister inlaw followed us to rochester and would stay for a month every summer with her two kids
(one had a dozen 6's on his head), sometimes brought her cat and friends as well

once i got so stressed out I locked all the doors to the house and for 1 hour i refused to let anyone inside
except my dogs later i said OKAY y'all can come in now i'm feeling better
and went to my bedroom and took a LONG NAP hahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
note: i had 3 tiny kids she had 2, she had a cat and i had 2 dogs and a cat and i cooked daily for 8 people
KNOW WHAT CURED this company this time? a Divorce!

so kathy i can ONLY imagine what it must be like as you're going on way longer than a month
i really DO HOPE things ease up for you adn eventually one day you might wake up one day and say
OKAY i aint' feeling so congenial and shock a few members into helping you out
