I still don't have a date for my son's surgery, but WOW! I have talked to some people across the nation who have done nothing but encourage me to just take him on the plane and GO when the time comes!
One lady who is a travel advisor, told me to write my story. Yep! I have to write exactly how good it will be from the time I leave my house, to getting on the plane and enjoying. ALL positive thougts. She explained that with my "condition", I have worked myself into thinking I have to take care of Bogart on the plane when it's his job to take care of me. She said i most likely will not transfer my anxiety to him, but that my anxiety will make him more protective of me. Then I talked to another lady who flew with her lab. She said she ust got on the plane and di it. I'm waiting for a trainer to call me from California who travels with her dogs in the cabin all the time. In waiting for a date, this is giving me time to sort through this. I really need to take Bogart with me. I just hope I have the guts to do it!!

UPDATE!
I found a website forum where it's specific to Service Dogs and flying etc. What a WEALTH of info! In fact, had I NOT found it and just assumed I could go........I would have arrived at the airport and could have been turned away. As of May of this year, there are new laws. People have approached the White House to try to change these things, but nope....didn't work. My prescriptions specifically says PTSD and other illnesses. In the past, I guess I could have just relied on my medical doctor for the "other illnesses" RX. But now........I have to have a current letter, with letterhead, from a mental health professional. I called NWA and saw it on their website too. So, aside from the forum.........NWA is confirming this. I now have an appt with a Licensed psychotherapist next Tuesday. I know him and sold him his home. He is a major dog lover and deals with PTSD as well. SO!! Now that ya all know I'm MENTAL......... Anyway, it could have been disastrous if I was asked for this letter and didn't have it.
