Waaay off topic. Dogs and Heaven!

All of my life, I have been really interested in Philosophy and Religion studies. I have read books that people think I'm a whacko for reading, but I have always enjoyed them AND any discussions in these areas.
A few weeks ago, I picked up an over 500 page book at Borders called Heaven by Randy Alcorn.
I won't get into all the stuff behind this book that I can't wait to read each night. But, I was particularly interested in the reading on animals.
Remember those books titled something like Do Dogs Go to Heaven? They tried to tell us they do, but there was never a reason given that fulfilled me.
Then of course, if you believe in God, people always say....."Dogs do not have souls, so they don't go to heaven."
I recall a nun I taught with who was extremely strict and religious almost to the point of obnoxious.
I started to like her when she said one day, "If dogs don't go to heaven.then I want to go where they go."

So, if you do believe in God and Adam and Eve.......I'd like to concisely say what Randy Alcorn has put together.
God created Adam and Eve to perfection. They lived in a Paradise. There were animals all around them.
If you believe that Noah built an Ark.........he took 2 of every animal.
It appears then, that God loves animals and gave them to us for our pleasure!!
Of course, through the sin of Adam and Eve, they were thrown out of Paradise and we all now live in a world that is far from perfect.
BUT! If you believe that one day this world will end, then follow this thought.
God created Paradise to perfection! There was nothing wrong with it. He is working on bringing us all back to that same Paradise.....that Heaven on Earth!
And guess what!! There again will be all animals and there will be DOGS!!
So, dogs do not have to have souls. But, as was given to Adam and Eve in the garden..........will be given to us again!

I am really not crazy...... :P So many scriptural passages Alcorn uses in this book have me somewhat believing all this is TRUE!
Heaven will be everything we want but even BETTER!!.......even our dogs will be better!
I just wanted to share.
If no one responds, I guess I'll think that everyone believes that my upper respiratory infection has attacked my brain and caused me to LOSE IT!!

Let me be the first to say that I believe in God and that animals have souls and go to Heaven. I know this with every thing that I am. To me it only makes sense.

Linda....i too believe in god and also remember the nuns teachings/preachings as a kid but that started to change in high school
in the late 1970's where were actually ASKED to question things that was a major shock to our systems

I guess if people can believe in the spirituality of Mother Earth and/the Universe, others believe God isn't a person, some say
god is within you.

my point: when we read about dogs saving lives, alerting us to danger, helping us out intuitively when sick or injured
and much more.
Who's to say they don't have a soul..........then we have RAINBOW BRIDGE where some state dogs wait for you.

so i say, for me Dogs have souls and hopefully one day when I am NO longer here my dogs will be in heaven waiting for me
along with my family etc.

LINDA you may want to watch a movie called WHAT DREAMS MAY COME FROM with Robin Williams
it's a LONG movie but presents heaven in a way and also presents hell ...it's a really good movie and makes one think.

I too firmly believe in God, and the power of prayer..as to whether our beloved dogs and pets go to heaven?
I think they provide heaven right here on earth for us every day (except when they're into mischief ) and will continue to do so after!

Well this is GOOD! No one thought I'd flipped out so far!
I need to clarify that I'm not saying dogs have souls. What I am saying is that they don't have to to be with us wherever Paradise is! God just gives them to us!!
Annmarie, I haven't seen that but will watch for it on cable!
