Default obssive and clingy

Does anyone else have the problem with their doodle being overly obsessed with you?
He's very much my dog and tolerates my husband.
Murry follows me every where to the point he wears himself out.
He doesn't like to be out of my sight and he has trust issues with strangers.
Once he figures they're ok he's fine but other wise he's quit the guard dog.
He's a big ozzing mess of affection and playfulness he just has these moments
where I can't turn around without at times bumping into him or always telling
strangers he's friendly, really.
What should I do?
p.s next picture he'll be shaved naked.

He's adorable! We don't have a problem with Charlie being anxious or guarded -- he is everyones friend and our official greeter -- he is always underfoot and attached at the hip to either my husband or myself though. Doodles are definitely people dogs and I have found that Charlie's favorite place to be is draped across my lap (all 76 pounds of him). Could he be lonely -- do you feel like you spend enough time with him? I am sorry I can't be more helpful -- I am sure you will find lots of great advice here -- he is truly adorable.

WOW! I don't have that going on with Bogart at all.
In fact, I wish I had more of it! I did have this with other dogs to a degree, but not with my doodle.
I'm not sure just what you can do. Are you the one who is always with Murry.....who BTW....is really cute and sweet looking!
If not, you may want to ask your husband or kids........if any........to start being with Murry more and you're not aound.
As far as strangers, you may want to start asking them to give him treats? Have some handy to dole out and ask people to warm up to him.
Perhaps more people can help.
BTW!
WELCOME!!!!

Ok i'll admit i've tripped over Max (our labradoodle) quite a bit the past 3 years he's a velcro dooodle or as they say in this house
a Mamma's boy for sure. NOW i've also done alot of training with him thus a strong bond and at one time was home with him
If I am not going neither is max and he stays put at my side unless i encourage him to go with my son or DAVE.

BOTH doodles follow me 24/7 ---we tease and say it's my own parade. THEY follow me bettter than Peter Pan's shadow

NOW Max at one time as a puppy was friendly wit my family and closet of friends
but was quite aloof with strangers almost indifferent but as he matured
that changed. but i'd say for the 1st 1.5yrs HE really did cling to me alot and didn't trust strangers till he started to mature.
OB training did help along with his training in public places...helped socialize him.

he's a lover boy giving tons of kisses for people he knows but with complete strangers well some he's fine with
and others he takes his time debating if he likes them or not. I TRUST a dog's opinion as they size up people better than us.

Max and Now peanut too.....if dave gets up at 5am they don't budge and will wait till iget up at 6am
DAVE can get ready, drink coffee etc and both doodles well they wait for MOMMIE to give them a potty walk hahhaaa
i fell asleep on a lounge chair on the deck last weekend......Dave said they wouldn't budge
so off he went for a walk alone to the creek and both doodles laid next to me till i woke up 2hours later.

also my work hours changed not too long ago in the beginning both doodles waited till i got home to eat
seriously they would NOT touch their food till i walked in the door. THAT HAS NOW changed as i started having
DAVE feed them and do some training with them too so they look to him more as an alpha lately.

DOODLES really are people dogs.......some cling more than others or rather i find goldendoodles are like golden retrievers
everybody's friend and look for the next one who will lavish attention on them
Max he's mamma's boy but as of RECENTLY does trade me in for a few close friends and 3 of my kids when they visit.

so it does get better.......the only thing Max tried as a puppy was growling when he laid at my feet when anyone entered the room
it took 2 weeks to break that habit when he was a puppy. he learned a stranger entering without knocking is OKAY
but with family and friends UH UH

is max protective at 3yrs old? ONLY if someone shows anger towards me and yells otherwise he's a lover boy
that is on my heels 24/7 and i learned to turn lights on if i get up in the middle of the night or i fall over him....max is black as night

Oh when i vacuum they follow me from behind so i dont step backwards anymore either hahhaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I tend to laugh how they have to be wherever i am .......almost like having little kids again
the bathroom? NO privacy either hahhaaaa I wish they'd learn to hand me a towel

Welcome to the forum Jillian and Murry! Don't know how I missed this one, but I did.. My Raleigh exhibits the same traits as Murry and follows me from room to room...he can be sound? asleep on the couch, but knows when I've left the room..even if I tip toe out! Built in radar maybe? But I do know that by nite time he's pooped, because I've interrupted his sleep many times thru out the day! Enjoy the forum...can't wait to see more pics of Murry!
