Default Gabby Jack Ranch, Service Companions, how you can help

(Prior permission granted by Mark to post regarding Gabby Jack Ranch.)

Gabby Jack Ranch http://www.gabbyjackranch.org is a non-profit organization that matches a Doodle Assistance dog with a person with a disability or a facility program with a lead person. We also place a ‘comfort’ Doodle for the purpose of providing in-home comfort or task help (these dogs would not be for public access).

Our unique philosophy allows the team (person and Doodle) to meet, bond, imprint, learn to communicate and thrive because we facilitate early contact. We believe in training each dog in the tasks that their particular teammate needs. Gabby Jack Ranch supervises training of the team.

We are a caring Doodle Assistance dog organization. If you or someone you know is interested please read below and then use the "comments" section on our web page to request an application.

• Medical documentation of the disability(s): The disability must impact a major life task.
OR
• Proof that the dog will be a therapy dog or go to work at a facility to provide comfort to people.
• Payment for service dog, training, testing, pet/vet care, food etc. We ask each person to pay $5000 from their personal funds or that they fundraise. We provide sliding scale as our funding permits.

We appreciate your interest to our program. We are so excited to be accepting applications!

Support Gabby Jack Ranch: Raffle Items to Donate?
Gabby Jack Ranch needs to fundraise and we are planning a raffle! Please let us know if you have any items or services that you are willing to donate to be raffled off. Your donation is tax deductible! Please contact us at Eileen@gabbyjackranch.org and tell us about your item or service.

UPDATE: We are no longer planning to do the calendar or recipe book. We have not had a huge response...but if it is okay, we'd like to keep the pictures already presented and use them at some future date. Please let us know if you prefer that we do not keep them on file. We will notify you before we use any of the pictures.

Great ideas Jac....-How about a 'First Annual Doodle Walk' to raise funds for the ranch? Maybe have hot dogs, chips and soda at the end of the walk with flyers about the ranch..Like they do for breast cancer...not sure how populated your area is, but maybe it would work and would be a lot of fun! Who knows...just a thought! In the meantime, I'll gather photos and send them in...

Kathie,

That is a great idea. Thank you for the Doodle walk suggestion.

Right now we are in need of volunteers to coordinate events. Are you interested in helping us do a walk or some other activity?

Thanks in advance for the pictures! Can't wait to see them.

Eileen

Great ideas for a great cause. Seamus happens to have a recreation director at the hospital/nursing home who is a papparazzi at heart, we have tons of pictures of him doing lots of things with our patients. The trick is getting the lighting good enough to show off the features of a black doodle! I'll be sending you some pictures soon.

I'll do what I can Eileen...but keep in mind I'm in Connecticut!!! Is an 'attachment' ok as far as submitting the pictures, or would you rather have them sent a different way?
As far as the Doodle walk is concerned....I love to see where people live, and google the town shown under everybody's name...looks like Penn Valley is not heavily populated...so maybe it could encompass all types of dogs...
our town here, has a 'Paw's in the Park' day every year, with local pooch vendors set up with tables(Petsmart, Petco, Ct.Humane Society, Rescue groups, groomers, Fidelco, etc..) The first 100 people or so get 'goodie bags'..with products donated by the vendors...there are contest for best 'tail wagger', highest jumper, best dressed.. , best in agility and the list goes on...the people just eat this stuff up! In the meantime, if you could hold this event at a school or park, the 'walk' could be done right there...
I'm also going to 'pm' you...

Kathie and any other Doodle picture donators!

Attaching your beautiful pictures to the email will work fine. IF I have trouble with it I will email you. Jacque & I are working on this calendar together. Please send your pictures!!

FYI: We will gladly accept silly pictures, fun pictures, romps, goofy, cute or whatever type of Doodle picture you have. They do not have to be just one kind.

Please send pictures to GabbyJackRanch@gmail.com

Thanks for the suggestions Kathie. I will PM you.

How COOL!
I'm a little slow today..
Are you asking for pictures of ANY doodles?
And.........I so wish that this lady near me lived near you. She is in dire need of a companion dog that would help her.
She got a pup and had to give it back to her breeder. She is in NO condition to raise a puppy.

Thank you guys for the WONDERFUL response! Let's keep it going, please!!
There are so many adorable Doodles on this forum, I just know that we can make a top-notch calendar! Diane (Dakota's Mom) is going to be designing the calendar and spear-heading the project! (You all know how talented she is!)

I love goofy pictures...maybe on one month we could do a collage of the type we all sent in for tongue pictures...that was hilarious! (Might be good for April...tax day!)

Thank you...

I will be sending some pictures soon. I still like the idea of asking if you can run an on line dog show and people pay a price to enter with a prize at the end. Good luck!!!

Thanks to those of you who have already sent pictures in! We still need more pictures & treat recipes. Send treat recipes & pictures to GabbyJackRanch@gmail.com
Some questions have been put to me so I thought I would take time to give answers publicly.

*Please try to limit pictures to just Doodles. I know it seems mean to the darling Poodle, Lab or Golden Retrievers. Thanks for not calling me a non-Doodle dog hater.

*We will gladly accept a picture of your dog as a puppy or teenage or one of your senior Doodle. We are not ageist.

*Go ahead & send more than 6 pictures if you can't decide or you have a favorite! I was worried I would be flooded by emails but so far it is manageable. Make it unmanageable!

*We don't have an end date for pics but the sooner you share your pictures, the sooner we can finish the calendar & the sooner you might see your Doodle on the wall!

*If you do not have your Doodle but she/he is arriving soon, we will gladly accept the picture so long as you own the rights.

*We can't accept breeder's pics unless you are the breeder & own the pic! Sorry

*Finally we will accept any type of picture: beach, running, smiles, "I'm so cute you will do whatever I want 'face shots', sleeping, resting, jumping, tongue with Doodle attached

Thanks so much for supporting Gabby Jack Ranch! Send pictures to GabbyJackRanch@gmail.com
