What's Louie?

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and to Doodles as we have had Dobermans for the last 20 years. Our Louie is a rescue. He's 11 months old now, 25" tall and 70#s. In case I can't figure out how to post a picture of him I'll describe him. He's tan with what I would call a hairy coat that feels wiry to the touch. It seems to have maxed out to 2" length and he sheds like no other dog I've ever had! He has perfectly round eyes, like a poodle, and has the classic poodle gait when he trots. But his instincts are more that of a lab. He can spend hours sniffing every smell he comes across.
His story, from the rescue people, is that he was purchased, along with a litter mate brother by a couple who spent "many thousands of dollars" for the two of them. The couple had him and his brother for about a week when their house was foreclosed. Rather than return the pups to the breeder the couple decided to put them in rescue where they'd have a better chance of going to well screened homes. Louie's brother, BTW, looked more like a lab with a smooth close-to-the-body redder coat.
My question, for all of you who know far more than I do about Labradoodles, is do you think Louie is an F1? Thanks so much.

I am not an expert but sounds like Tia. She sheds a lot and dander (oh Boy). I have been told she is F1. She has more of a lab looking coat but it is about 1 1/2 inches long in places. I have had dogs shed much more than Tia but she sheds A LOT!!! Glad to meet you! I love it here! I can't keep from talking about all I learn!

I am sooo glad you are in love with LOUIE and rescued him however there are breeders here that would be
a tad dismayed to see the couple didn't call the breeder first about rehoming them as many have it in their contract
to contact them 1st ...ALSO if you can find out who the breeder is......then you can know for Sure what kind of doodle

Awwwwwwwwww! BTW we measured Tia's back hair it is 3 inches long! However most of her hair isn't that long!

Thanks for the replies.
Louie is wonderful and we feel very lucky to have gotten him. I would like to have him certified one day as a therapy dog and my husband (less likely) would like to do search and rescue with him.
I'm hoping he's an F1 because of what I've heard about health issues with doodle to doodle breedings. I need to do some homework on that topic but right now we're enjoying life with Louie.
Regarding the original owners not returning him to the breeder: I didn't want to offend anyone (yet ) but it was my understanding that they went to a large puppy mill/commercial breeder and told the rescuer they didn't want the pups going back there.
I'm finding it a little tricky to navigate this forum so bear with me. I'm about to post (I think)a picture of Louie in my mini cooper. Normally he doesn't do the driving but really enjoys being securely harnessed in the back seat and letting the wind blow through his 2 in. long hair.

He's a cutie! What part of Bucks County do you live in?? I've lived in Doylestown, Warminster, Perkasie, and Quakertown. Now I'm in Indiana.
