Hi - I am new to this forum and fairly new to Labradoodles. I have a 6 month old puppy that I was told would be a large medium when full grown. At 6 months she is 18 lbs and 13 inches to the shoulder, and she doesn't seem to be growing. Does anyone know at approximately what age a doggie, specifically a Labradoodle reaches it's full grown height/weight? We love her more than anything, but we are a bit disappointed that we thought we were buying a larger dog and seem to be ending up with a tiny little thing! The breeder told us that her genetics are such that she should be about 30-35lbs and 19 inches full grown but the vet doesn't seem to think that this is true. We love her and she is part of the family already, but I feel as though the breeder just told me what I wanted to hear just to sell me the dog. Please let me know your thoughts! Thanks!

Well...based on how Dexter grew, I would say your doodle could reach 30 lbs, but I wouldn't expect much more. Of course she could just be a late bloomer and may grow late
Your breeder may not have misled you - you can guess final weight by the parent size, but there are many examples of doodles on this forum who wound up much larger than either parent...so she may really have thought your doodle would wind up larger. Please post some photos of her

Welcome! My dog Tia is not going to help here. She out grew 3 harnesses by 3 months old. She is 25 inches at the shoulder 31 inches at the head and weighs 84 lbs. last weigh in a month ago or more. She has slowed down lots but I think she is inching up a little taller. She is 20 months old. Enjoy the trip.

I already have one large Doodle and looks like I am on my way to a second big boy.......
Denver is 31 inches tall and weighs about 95 lbs give or take.....My second is a puppy who will be 4 months old on the 14th and already weighs 40 lbs and is 22inches tall..........Our friends are now making bets on Ryder being taller than Denver when he is grown but my money is on Denver.even though I think Ryder will get close to his height........... Time will tell with your baby too........... |

Welcome to the forum!
I can relate somewhat to what you are asking.......... My Annie is 6 months old too. She is not as big as I had hoped either. She was spayed 2 weeks ago and I spoke to the vet about it when I took her in. I was told by my breeder that she would weigh 40-45 lbs full grown. She only weighs 20 lbs now. My vet said he didn't think she was going to get their either. Same thing with the height; not quite as tall. Anyways, I met both the parents and they were definately the size I had hoped for. But to answer your question........... I was told the majority of their growing is done by 6 months. They still continue to grow and fill out up until a about a year but at a much slower pace. I suppose genetics and a roll of the dice are factors in their size. Just like us humans, huh? My family used to tease me when I was younger, because I was taller than my mom and sister. They always told me I was the milkman's daughter.

HI nice to meet you and welcome to this great forum!!
Max (black ld) grew bigger than expected ..he's approx 70 to 80lbs (depending if its summer or winter) , 26 in tall Peanut (cream Gd)LOOKS BIGGER than she is , her nickname is TANK-A-DOODLE, she's only 56lbs and 22in tall but when her coat is 1/2way to fully grown out well let's say people ask me if she weighs 85lbs! OH Doodles are contaigous thus you'll probably have a 2nd doodle no later than this time next year SOOO you have time yet to find a Taller doodle Most doodles are done with height by 10 mos old. After a year old they can put on another 5 to 10lbs but filling out. Max is solid muscle as is peanut. Both have different builds though with Max being lean and peanut being 'broad'. can't wait to see pics of your doodle and did i miss your doodle's name?

I got my first doodle, Finn a standard F1B(maybe), in June and just got my second, Gracie Rose a goldendoodle (Peanut's sister), two weeks ago. She is 16 weeks tomorrow and 22lbs and maybe 16 ins at the shoulder.

Is she a miniature labradoodle? The full-grown size your breeder told you to expect sounds like a mini, and yours sounds like she's on the small side of a mini. Linus at 6 1/2 months is 26 pounds and 18" at the shoulder, and he's a first generation mini (mom's a labrador, dad's a miniature poodle). After our second trip to the vet when he was about 3 months old, she said she didn't think he'd get to be more than 20 pounds full-grown. He's already surpassed that slightly, but probably won't get too much bigger. I think minis reach their adult size at an earlier age than standards. Your girl could still have a growth spurt, but if she's a miniature, I wouldn't count on her getting much bigger.
While I wouldn't trade my goofy boy for anything, I actually envy you a little. I wanted a small miniature and had the runt of the litter reserved, but when he didn't hardly thrive at all, the breeder wouldn't sell him for fear of health problems, so I had to choose another, and by then there were only two left, a boy and a girl. While girls are generally smaller, this little girl was also super hyper. The boy (now my Linus) settled right down when I put him on my lap. He also appeared to have a nicer coat. Even though he's bigger than I was hoping for, I love him to pieces. By the way, like so many of the others have said, I'm thinking of getting another one next summer, or the summer after... They are a furry, cuddly, dribbly, entertaining addiction for sure!!

wish I could be of some help - Hamish is just 6 months and is weighting in at 42 lbs and 22 inches tall. My husband is a bit disappointed that he won't be gianormous!! - I'm happy however he turns out - my guess (and the vet's) is he'll end up around 55 lbs and 24 inches tall - respectable - but definitely on the small size for a standard I'm thinking --anyone want to start a final size pool for the current puppy pool!! - whoever comes closest to guessing their pup's final size wins some homemade doggy biscuits - my treat!!!

My Sadie is 6 1/2 mos old. When she was spayed last week she weighed 53 lbs and I tried measuring her height at the shoulders but she was moving so not sure exactly, I think she is between 22 and 23 inches high at this point. She is a Standard (F1) First Generation Labradoodle.
Welcome to the forum and post some pictures if you can..

Wanna trade??
I've always wanted a bigger dog, but I'm hoping mine won't get past the 50-60 lb mark my breeder said she should get to. However at just over 4 months she already weighs 30lbs. So yours is definitely on the small side. |

Hi, I am new to the forum and am planning to buy a multi-gen black Labradoodle puppy. I want a medium sized male. The male we are looking at has a dad who is an average medium and a mom who is a small standard (60lbs). The puppy is the biggest one in the litter. He is 9 weeks and about 12lbs. Is he going to be over 50lbs? My girls are in love with him and he is adorable in every way but I really wanted a smaller dog this time. My 13 yr old lab was the best pet ever but he was 83lbs!

I'm also fairly new to this forum and my dog "Juneau" is an 8 month F1 who currently weighs 56 lbs and I have no idea about his height because standing still is not something he's interested in doing right now.
I was told his Mom (yellow lab) was about 70 lbs and his dad (black standard poodle) was about 50 lbs. We're guessing that he'll probably top out around 65 lbs, but then again he's just one surprise after another so we'll just have to wait and see! |
