Hello all -- my name is Karen and I have a wondeful doodle named Charlie who's 3 years old. We also have a 6 pound Maltesse who rules the roost at home. Glad I found this place as most of my friends and family are sick of hearing me gush about Charlie and his adorable antics. We've had him since he was a baby and he has been such a joy.....although until recently just a tad on the hyper side....okay who am I kidding here...he was WAY hyper. He is our official family greeter and doesn't know an enemy. He loves all people and animals...including my son's hedge hog Sonic (of course)....he is a 70 pound lap dog and I would have 10 more if I could. I'm looking forward to getting know everyone and their doodles!

Hi Karen,
It is always so fun to meet new doodle owners especially when they are as crazy about their doodles as I am. I know what you mean by running out of friends and family to brag to...mine just roll their eyes too My Tanner, who is 2.5 is also from Kansas and sweet and funny as they come. I think you will really enjoy this forum and the wonderful forum members

Welcome Karen - I haven't been on the forum long, but I've already had a lot of help with questions about my Charlie (a chocolate 5 mth old) and, as the others said, it saves you from boring family and friends to death about your beloved doodle....whereas we can't get enough of it here! Just don't count on getting much else done now....the forum's addictive!!

Is Charlie (looks like) an F1? Fleece coat by the pic? What are you feeding him? Is he Obedience trained? Oh I thought you said you wanted to talk about your Doodle

Welcome Karen! I could not let this post go by without saying you will LOVE it here. I have only been on a short time and already I am having to restrict my posts because my hand is sore from typing. I love these people and their "children". I am so glad you are here! Of course I want pictures!!!!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! Charlie is an F1 -- his mom was a poodle and his dad a lab. We think when his hair gets long, he looks like a surfer dog -- just mellow hanging out & looking for a good time
He is a pretty low shedder but he does have several skin issues -- he has to be bathed frequently -- which he absolutely loves -- with a special prescription shampoo that has to sit on him for 10 minutes -- it is hard work brushing a happy water dog for 10 minutes while he splashes! Everytime we pull back the curtain in the hall bathroom, he jumps in the tub. He has his own special bathtub toys that he only gets during bath time and he knows where we keep them, so I have to keep my eye on him. He will literally play in there for hours if I let him. I have to say.....he loves water but he seriously swims like he's "special". I will have to get a picture to share sometime......most dogs paddle with their paws under the water and just kind of glide around....not my boy....he has to pull each paw out of the water and slap it down as hard as possible....he looks like he is trying to climb out of the water -- it is seriously bizarre but I know he loves it because he can't wait to get back in there! He has been the unintended entertainment on more than one occassion. He is a dedicated fetcher -- definitely didn't need to be taught to retreive -- he loves it and will do it for hours -- he has worn out more than a few arms at our house. The neighborhood kids (bless their hearts) will ring the doorbell to see if Charlie can come out to play -- they are amazed at his endless fetching. He can also hop really high. If the front door is open and he sees someone he likes approaching he will jump straight up as high as he can -- his back legs will get higher than the 1/2 way point of my storm door -- he also does this up the stairs in the morning when he is super excited to be awake for the day. It is crazy! Something else he does is the "weave" -- every morning after he has pottied, eaten and burped (very loudly I might add) he MUST weave in and out of our legs like a cat and get his scratches....this is the only time of the day he insists on this but he does insist He is somewhat trained....he knows all the basic commands and will wait patiently before going outside when the door is opened -- our main problem is his greeting of people -- he takes his job as official greeter very seriously and no one gets by him with out lots of love.....sometimes too much love He is a giant lap dog....and prefers squeezing next to a person on the couch to watch TV (which he does do) to any other sit in the house.....we love him!! I have lots of pictures to share
