Hello...we rescued a 6-month-old doodle boy and just brought him home today. We are thinking of naming him Marley due to the dreadlocks on his hiney...
He is obviously very stressed out right now, but he's clinging to me like crazy. He hasn't pottied all day, so I'm going to take him out once more. He had been kept outside on a full-time basis, so we have a lot to learn about housebreaking, manners, etc... He was matted, so I gave him a little trim here & there, so pardon his wild look. I'm not really sure how he is supposed to look so I probably should have left it for the professionals, but at least now he can see. Mama was a labradoodle, and daddy was a labrador. They docked his tail, which disappoints me, but it sure keeps people guessing as to what his breed is! Here is his pic: [/img]

Hello and welcome to you both!
Marley is a gorgeous dog! Bless his heart (and yours)...you are going to have some major challenges, but you are also going to have some major connections and success...congratulations! He is adorable! Congrats.
I am always giving Stella little touch-ups on her hairdo. The doodle hair is very forgiving for us amateur groomers!

Congratulations and welcome!! There are a couple of threads here about grooming and someone should be able to link them for you. I have yet to take Semi to the groomer but I plan on taking pictures of what I want and what I DON'T want.
Keep us updated on your progress. The people here are so nice and will help any way we can.

OMG how cute is he!! And he does look a ton like Abby (that's the first thing I thought when I saw his photo).
The good news is that your puppy is only 6 months old - it seems like the younger dogs still have so much time to overcome any of the hardships they faced early in life. Good luck!!

Thanks, everyone!! And thank you for the warm welcome, too. I love seeing all of the adorable doodles, and I've been reading, and reading, and reading.
Things are going well as we head into Day 4...he seems to ignore the cats most of the time, he's pottied outside and hasn't pottied in his crate or the house (yet..hehe)and he's starting to get along a little bit better with our golden. I moved his crate into my bedroom because he was crying so much at night...and that is working much better. I crated him today while I was out, and at home for a little bit, so he'd get used to hearing me come & go and etc. He did fine..just a little bit of crying. He is super smart and seems VERY eager to please and learn. Thanks for letting me brag about my new fur baby a little bit! |

Training tip: It makes for a cute picture however if you teach him OFF when he puts paws up on barrier you will condition him not to climb out. OFF is a very important command for a dog. There are many techniques for attaining this goal available online. I use the clicker training method for this.
