He's about a year older now but just as handsome (longer beard, of course). I got Chaco from a woman who breeds and trains field labs. She has a poodle as a house dog and thought the combo would be great. Mom's black, Dad's a pale yellow lab, and Chaco is well, chocolate. He's smart--the vet says one of the smartest dogs she's ever seen. Guess you can tell I'm smitten.
I'd like to breed him with a poodle or perhaps a lab. He's a year and a half old now and well trained. I know people who want pups, though I guess most of that's up to the female's owner. I'm willing to have him tested. He's intact because the vet says it's healthier for male dogs, and he's very gentle and not into drama or fights. Glad I found this forum if only to show off the big guy... [img] [/img]

It's so much fun to look at the dogs on the forum. Recently a friend of mine, who has a purebred, showed at a major dog show. She'd been a fan of Chaco's, but when she returned from the show, she would hardly look at him. I can only imagine the hostility about "designer mutts" she encountered at the show. I find it interesting, as I've always had mixes--designer or not, they've got hybrid vigor.
