hi everyone -- it is with great pleasure that i am now able to introduce our new puppy, ursus! he is an 8 week old F1B labradoodle, and his name means "bear" in latin.
our first night was uneventful -- we had a little whining in the crate, but it wasn't too long before he was fast asleep. our almost 2-year-old labradoodle, kumo, seems very happy to have a new little brother :) i don't have too many pictures of ursus yet -- we drove yesterday from ann arbor, MI to toronto and back to pick him up, and i haven't had a chance today to take many photos. here are a couple, and i'm sure i'll be posting more! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -em |

OMG! Is he cute or what????
More adorable Michigan doodles!! Question.......how do you work clearance to get across into Canada? We live in Birmingham, and we're interested in knowing.... Seriously.......there are so many of you in AnnArbor and in the Birmingham area that we MUST do a playdate this summer!!

thanks, everybody! we've wanted a second doodle for a while, but were waiting for kumo to be old and well-behaved enough not to need constant supervision, before taking the plunge. we made the arrangements for doodle #2 back in november, but i didn't want to say anything until it was a done deal.
so far, ursus has been fantastic. he's really laid back, but at the same time alert and curious. he LOVES the snow -- he does this cute little hop-pounce thing and then sticks his face in it. yay for puppies! i'd be up for a southeast michigan doodle romp any time! regarding going to canada -- we didn't need to get any special clearance. my fiance and i used our passports for identification, but i believe if you're driving across the border (as opposed to flying) you just need your driver's license and some kind of proof of citizenship, like a birth certificate, to get back into the US. to enter canada you just need some kind of photo identification. (things are a bit more complicated for foreign nationals in the US on some kind of visa.) we have friends here in ann arbor who sometimes go to windsor, ON (across the river from detroit) just to go to the casino for the evening. my fiance even went to windsor once to go curling -- he said the US border guards made fun of them when they told him the purpose of their visit to canada :) we purchased ursus from a breeder in canada, who then shipped him via air canada cargo to toronto, and we picked him up there. to bring a puppy back into the USA from canada all you need is proof of purchase (like a receipt from the breeder) and a health certificate. there's no tariff or tax or anything on importing dogs from canada. it was very simple! -em |
