got Bailey home last night, and took her a little while to adjust to the new surroundings. Found out a couple things about her.. She found her pooping spot already, in the house. Have to try really hard here to break that one fast. Also found out that she DOES NOT like kennels. haha. She is such a quiet dog, until you put her in her kennel for the night, then oh my god! This dog has a LOUD deep bark!! Went to bed about 9:30, and didnt get to sleep until about 2. She finally figured out at around 2 that we wernt going to pay any attention, and she went to sleep. Good news is, she can hold her bladder all the way through the night. Took her out this morning to go poddy, and she peed right away. Then took her back inside, and she went over to her spot, and started to poop. Rushed her back outside and then she wouldnt go. haha. She is such a cute dog!!! And its so amazing being able to stick your hands right in her food bowl with her, and just have her wag her tail. I was almost in tears of joy last night, as you would lose a finger if you did that with Maverick. SO NICE!!!!

My husband and I just sat here giggling with joy and the ooooohs and ahhhhhhs!
SHE is SO CUTE!! Of course, any black doodle looks like our Bogart! I'm wondering what sort of coat they said she has. When we got Bogart, his coat looked like Bailey's at 9 weeks. Slowly, he turned into a little fuzzball. He has the most beautiful fleece coat! It's exactly what the breeder said it would be. What food are you going to feed her? I have so many questions and I'm so HAPPY for you 2! Yep! The difference between Mav and Bailey is already showing in your ability to put your hand in her bowl. Keep that up! Play with her feet, toes.......get her use to letting you do anything to her. Play with her ears, tug on them, grab her tail.....roll her over and rub her belly. Do all the things little kids will do, so that she's ready for the baby and a growing child. Little kids have no mercy sometimes! So, you have to "get her ready and prepared". Nicely, of course. Since Bogart works with adults and kids, he was trained from the get go to "take it". When he works with autistic and Downe Syndrome children, they have no clue. He has been bopped on the head with books, had things grabbed from his mouth and these kids try sticking their head in his mouth! He tolerates all of it so well! Anyone can take anything away from him without a problem. That's something else to do to prepare for the baby. Give something she loves to her and take it right out of her mouth...say GOOD GIRL and give it back. You and Amanda have chosen a bundle of happiness that will be around a long time and growing up with a little one.........this is sooooo exciting!! Keep the pictures rolling! And as far as the "poop spot"....there are many products out there to get rid of that scent. Also, maybe you could put a chair over it, after de-scented so that she gets confused. That will give you time to watch her carefully in search of another one when you can just pick her up and carry her outside ASAP. Nothing to say on the kennel/crate! YIPPPEEE!! Congratulations!!!

Linda, we feed her wellness puppy food. Then she will also get wellness dog food once she has reached one year old. We have had very good luck with wellness brand food. And we have hardwood floors throughout the house, so we clean it up and spray it with neutralizer. She just likes to go behind the table, because she thinks its out of site I do believe. Her hair is kind of wire like on her back, but very soft on her ears. So im not sure what she will turn out with hair wise. The breeder said a fleece coat, but who knows.

HAHAHA!! Amanda's mother just went over to let her out to go poddy, and the little girl wasnt in her kenel! She came prancing out of our bedroom. Apparently she was jumping on the kenel door enough to get it unhooked and just let herself out. I will have to fix that when I get home. She did poop on the kitchen floor again though. We have a Houdini on our hands!!

OH NO!! She is a smart one! My Weimaraner/Lab actually bent the stainless steel on the door with his nose to open the latch and get out when he was a pup......well......an older young dog. It left a permanent bump on his nose for the rest of his 14 years!

CONGRATULATIONS MOM & DAD! I had no idea Amanda was due.....and who would have thought early?? Well, you have a GREAT attitude! And, the pup will REALLY get to know the baby from day one! This could be a really good thing! Think about it like having twins!!

OK, so now that we have gotten home, and settled down a little bit. An update on Bailey. She hasnt pooped in the house since she came back home on monday morning. She is doing VERY good at going outside. Still have to work on the warning thing, but atleast she isnt going inside. I have been working with her slowly on sit and stay. She is starting to pick them up also. Her puppy teeth are falling out, so she has gone on abit of a chewing kick as of late. We have plenty of toys around, so just keep tossing her a toy when she chews on something she is not supposed to. Hoping that will pass, once her adult teeth come in. Other then that, she is a perfect dog. Wont leave your side. We love our labradoodle!!

Congratulations Rodney on your beautiful family!!
Addison is absolutely gorgeous and looks so peaceful and content And I LOVE the fact that in all the pictures of Bailey her bum is a blur because her tail is wagging so much! She looks so cute with her floppy ears. Congrats and enjoy!! |
