Default Griffin the Doodle - our 1st labradoodle

Sorry - I initially posted this as a reply to Winnie Bean's post - still learning my way around here!

**I've added several pictures of my puppy today!!! **

Our Three Month Old Doodle
Hello everyone,

I have been reading this forum since Christmas. We lost our much loved yellow lab in November and I was inconsolable. I loved him like I gave birth to him and it still hurts everyday.

BUT,

On May 8 we brought home a 7 week old F1b Labradoodle pup we've named Griffin. The first week was hard because of all the reminders of my lab's baby days - but now I am so in love with this baby. He is a handful, smart, and very engaged with everyone in the family. I can tell he is going to be the best dog ever.

I have learned a lot from reading the posts here. Since this is our first labradoodle, I look forward to all that you have to teach and share with us!

Thank you so much!

Shelia and Griffin

WELCOME SHELIA AND GRIFFIN!!

I know the story of the loss all too well and I am so sorry for yours. We went through a November loss of a Springer Spaniel and I could hardly bear it.....that was 2 years ago.
Within 6 days, we had Bogart. Not as a replacement, but because I just couldn't stand it without having a dog around.
I recall holding Bogart at 9 weeks and rocking him and crying........he eased the pain and made me laugh as he squirmed in my arms and wanting nothing but to get into puppy trouble!
It helped me heal and sure didn't give me much time to grieve as my husband and I raised a new puppy!
Our "other" loves will always be in our hearts. And as I said, our doodles are not replacements but they sure will make us happy!
Bogart's mom is an English yellow lab........he is now 2.8 years old and is starting to act like a yellow lab every now and then. It sort of reminds me of the movie Funny Farm with Yellow Dog! Sometimes he just plops on the floor and doesn't move! You could move him aside on the hardwood floors with your foot and he stays there!
Then.......he is FILLED with energy that is so amazing!!
I LOVE MY DOODLE!
Congratulatins on your new baby!

HI Sheila ...i am soooooo glad you joined our forum and WOW you've been reading up alot, I hope it helped you. I am so sorry to hear of your loss YET at same time happy you have a doodle in your life to make you laugh again and go thru raising a puppy which is pretty much the way LINDA described it.

I know i kept saying NO MORE DOGS for 5 years as i know the hurt too.
Anyway Max my labradoodle is going to be 4yrs oldand Peanut my goldendoodle is going to be 3.5yrs old yet it seems like yesterday they were puppies bouncing around and partners in crime for sure

AS soon i as i miss the puppyhood days one of them does something silly or steals my grandbaby's stuffed animals or shorts etc my sense of humor comes back out and it's like puppyhood again.

I can't wait to see a pic of your doodle........we LOVE PICS!!!!
