Default New to Doodles from Calgary, Alberta

Hi all. We recently lost our hyacinth macaw to heart failure and we have decided to adopt a third generation (cross of two F1Bs) golden doodle puppy. He is the second smalles boy out of a litter of medium doodles, likely to weigh in at about 30 - 35 lbs when fully frown. My husband is not so thrilled, but my 14 year old daughter can't wait to pick up our new family member this coming weekend.

I picked doodles due to my husband's allergies and asthma. We have 2 Devon Rex cats which he can tolerate. He also has allergies to birds, pollen, molds, ets. When his eyes are itchy it is difficult to tell whether it is the cats, was the parrot, any potential mold in the house or pollen.

My husband spends the winters in California and I work full time in Calgary. He does not want any pets and I love having animals around the house. Oddly, one of our cats, Jonesie, is now best buddies with my hubby: Jonesie has spent the past two winters in California with him

I am a bit nervous about November when our little doode will start being home alone for 8 hours a day. Having said that, there are a lot of dog walkers around. It is definitely something I am going to consider.

Here is a picture of the little dood at 7 weeks.

What a dollbaby pupper doodle!!
Seeing as how you love animals and have a variety, I am certain you will love your dood!!!..........and your husband will as well!
This coming weekend is when you pick the dood up?
AWESOME!! .........and WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY OF DOODLES!
I look forward to seeing more pictures and hearing how things go. You have 5 months to work with your puppy and figure on how to leave him alone all day.
We are here to HELP!!

I am definitely not leaving him alone during the day. I'll either get a dog walker or a friend to drop by.

I'd love to have a job where I could work from home in the afternoons. I've approached my employer but our company policy is to only allow working from home in rare circumstances. I have permission to work afternoons from home 2 -3 times max this summer My job is soooo suitable for this arrangement but it would set a precendent for certain senior management employees who are not allowed to work from home.

I start between 7 and 7:30 and work until 3:30 or 4. My daughter has the same schedule at school.

We have the puppy room ready. The only missing items are a collar and leash. My cold feet have dissapeared, however my stomache is in knots with excitement. Can't wait for the weekend

OMYGOSH!!!!!!! Daddy is gorgeous! He's such a dood that I bet he picked a beautiful mom!
TONIGHT!! WOOHOOOOOOOOO!

That's too bad about your job policy. Our neighbor has the same kind and must be at the workplace even though her daughter is severley diabetic and only 7 years old. So, she has to pay for a sitter in the summer when Chloe isn't with her dad. We do help when we can.

Good luck and we EXPECT pictures ASAP!
