I got Jake about 4 months ago, when he was 4 months old. We got him from a backyard breeder, who swore he only bred his female once, and that was it. Jake did, however spend his first four months outside in the yard. I thought he was yellow before I bathed him, what a shock to find that he was white and fluffy. I am amazed every day how smart he is and how fast he is growing. He's been the perfect addition to my family, and I am excited to look into the prospects of getting involved in agility with him in the near future. Jake is 8 months old now and weighing in at about 75 pounds, good thing no one told my wife how big he'll get, she wanted a medium or small dog. She does love him to bits though. The avitar pic is about 2 1/2 months ago, shortly after his first trim. He's much bigger now.

WELCOME WELCOME!! Jake is such a cutie pie!!!! I know what you mean about the white doods looking yellow. It always surprises me how white my guy Henry is right after a bath...he LOVES the dirt though and it doesn't last long...
So glad you found Jake and made a terrific home for him. BYB's are horrible. My other guy, Samson, was in a backyard most of his first 6 months before coming to me. At first he liked outside more than inside, but he's quickly learned how comfy the couch is and how nice central heat and air is. Thing that surprised me the most about him, even though he was an "outside dog" before me, he picked up on potty training extremely fast. I think we only had 2 accidents inside. Can't wait to hear stories of Jake! |

Thanks for the welcome.
Jake is the most laid back dog I've ever met, many don't believe he's still a pup 'cause he's so well behaved and easy going. He loves his four walks/runs a day, and then spends the rest of his time lounging and growing. He's an indoor dog, part of the family pack, (my wife, two daughters and our 14 year old Min Pin, Batman). I'm sure his calm, mellow attitude has done as much for my family as we have done for him. I am fortunate, I can bring him to work with me when I want, so he's well socialized and rarely left to his own devices, to chew up the house. Jake is a good dog.

And I thought 65lbs at a year was a big dog! I think my Jones has more of the poodle body with his super long legs (although otherwise he looks like a lab), so he looks bigger than what his weight suggests.
