Hello, I'm a new user. We are beginning to look for a doodle! We lost our Golden Retriever 7 years ago and then got pregnant. Our daughter is now 5 and we bought a house with my parents two years ago and so there has always been too much transition going on. We are now settled and ready to introduce a new family member. We are considering a labradoodle for many reasons and would actually like to get one that is a year or two old. Any thoughts or feedback or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum Gone4hike!!!! You'll never regret adopting a Doodle for your family! There are a few people on the forum that foster Doodles thru IDOG which is a rescue orginization for Labradoodles and Goldendoodles.
Here is their website, so you could start there. http://idog.biz/IDOGRRR/IDOGRRRAdoptProcess.html You don't say which state you're from...Gene, who is a member of the forum and is from Ohio has a wonderful foster named Scooby! If you do a search at the top of the screen, and type in Scooby, then you can see a picture of him! He's just waiting for his forever home!! Good luck, and let us know how you make out!!

Welcome! The most important thing to do is read, read, read!!! Read everything you can on this site and anything else you can find. There is so much information to be found. Where do you live? There is often information to be found about rescue dogs that members can pass along and it helps to know your location. But most of all, Doodles are great fun, I'm sure you won't regret your educated decision to add one to your family.

Welcome! So you already have my suggestion, IDOG! You have the advantage of the fact their dogs are fostered first so you will know any problems and the great things too!

i wanted to add something ......i am sorry about your loss as it's never easy to say goodbye
now the flip side, I have PEANUT a f1 Goldendoodle that is i swear is a golden retreiver that doesn't shed she's the cream one in my avitar. A goldendoodle might be a great start to looking at first? peanut wags not only her tail but most of her body, she's everyone's friend, always has a toy in her mouth, we never have raised our voice with her and trained her the "no no peanut honey" with much success . she's as sweet as can be but can hold her own if pushed too much loves to snuggle and loves attention and being hugged.....she doesn't jump up on people but when I get home from work she tries sooooo hard to be good and jumps in front of me not one me with the tail causign a cool breeze NOW she also clicks her teeth, is called a golden POCKET THEIVER as she unzips coat pockets, bookbags , anything with a zipper to retrieve anything made of paper: receipts, money, homework , business cards hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa how can we get mad at her? as she then brings them to us half eaten and slobbered on but still she does give them back let us know where you live so we can help PM breeders to you that might want to consider NOW labradoodles very much like the goldendoodles but if you're in love with golden retriever breed then a goldendoodle might be one to search out first
